Title: Uesr:mannrammortre Game:CoinRPG Wallet stealing trojan?
Post by: DannyHamilton on June 16, 2014, 02:35:31 PM
Just received an unsolicited PM from a brand new, mannrammortre (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=344178), user with 0 post history.  They are suggesting that I try their new Windows based game, and are requesting beta testers.  I assume they are sending out a flood of these PMs to as many users as they can?

There doesn't appear to be any source code available to review.  I don't run Windows, so I can't beta test for them, but I can't help but wonder if it's a wallet stealing trojan (or a mining trojan) designed to trick people into installing it to help "beta test the game".

Use extreme caution if you received a similar PM and decide that you want to assist them with their beta test of closed source bitcoin related software.

Leave negative trust as a warning?

Report the message and they'll likely be banned pretty fast. You could also leave negative as well so others hopefully see it before they're duped into checking it ou . It's very likely it was a wallet stealer. Was it the same 'game' as this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=645094.0 ?

Yes.

That's it.

Given that it has been identified as malicious, I'm locking this thread, and leaving negative feedback for the user.
