Title: Vendetta
Post by: ShibaWow on June 16, 2014, 04:25:12 PM
I'm kind of trying to get even with my sister for her calling me retarded (long story...), so I would like to make some sort of a fake error on the computer (she uses our family computer) which would make her ineligible to go online or turn on the computer, and she would have to ask for my help (because she always asks me for help about anything on the PC, she can't even used MS Word xD) I would say "I can't, I'm retarded"
And after she gets off, I would go online and do stuff :D

Does anyone know how I could achieve this?
There might be a small reward for the one who may help :)

Pull out the ethernet cable, put a small piece of tape on it, then plug it back in.  :)

I dunno about fake error but if she's that's clueless just unplug the Ethernet cable or disable the network adapter and she won't be able to get online

it would be good to do so without her noticing that I made it stop working :D
because she would see me removing the piece of tape when I go online..

our TV works over the internet (maxTV T-com) so the router has to be plugged in
don't want to mess up my parents, just her :D

What don't you set the bios to boot off Sata or the opposite of what your computer boots too press F8 during booting. That will cause an error.

won't it automatically switch to the right option after the first one doesn't work?

Nope set your pc to the wrong selection and shutdown. When she switches back on the computer it will show an error message saying that it can't find your os. Reboot computer using ctrl alt del and press F8 until you get back into settings and put back to normal  ;D

There is some thread in off topic section of this forum with PC TIPS AND TRICKS, in there you can find a way to make any folder in windows passworded with using only notepad. You can prank her by making one of frequently used folder.

Set a BIOS password protection - she won't do anything unless she knows how to reset BIOS.

A trick I used to do when I was a kid- very annoying!
Create a new shortcut
As target element write: shutdown /s /t 00
Now put this into autostart folder and she's screwed :D

I'd probably do a combination of that with this: http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Fake-Error-Message-on-Windows
Just use google for all your needs.  :)

Honestly exactly what I thought of when coming to this thread.

Find out her favorite websites (Facebook, Twitter, etc...)
Change the HOSTS file (      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hosts_(file)      ) to switch the ip of those websites.

For example, point Facebook.com to Google.com

So go to http://www.selfseo.com/find_ip_address_of_a_website.php and type in google.com
Go to the hosts file and insert the following line.

Code:
THE_IP_YOU_FOUND      facebook.com
THE_IP_YOU_FOUND      twitter.com

You could also just point it to localhost and have it timeout.
Code:
127.0.0.1       facebook.com
127.0.0.1       twitter.com

Or just change the DNS server in the network config.  Then windows won't even popup a network connection error.  Of course Firefox and IE will launch and will take forever and timeout.

Good. :)

BTW, the hint about modify the hosts file was the funniest one.
Write your url (or even follow a link) but it keep loading a totally unrelated page...
Pretty puzzling for a not tech-savy!
