Title: Coinbase paper wallet vs Bitaddress.org paper wallet
Post by: J9901 on June 17, 2014, 01:07:32 PM
Finally going to create my first paper wallet. I have my BTC currently in Coinbase where I originally bought them from.

Coinbase has a seemingly easy paper wallet creation feature while Bitaddress.org gives more options and essentially, better security.

I know that coinbase cannot create a Cold storage/paper wallet while Bitaddress.org can...but aside from that main security difference, are there any other differences between creating a paper wallet in Coinbase vs Bitaddress.org?

Is the coinbase one open source?

That aside... So, in your opinion Bitaddress has more options and better security and you still wonder which one to use?

Like you said, Bitaddress has more security and options. A paper wallet is used for security, so use Bitaddress!

AFAIK, you can't create a paper wallet with coinbase without internet connection, so it is much better to use bitaddress to create your paper wallet without internet connection.

I shouldve mentioned in my post that it was a no-brainer that Bitaddress.Org wallets are better. This was really more of a pros and cons/differences of Coinbase and Bitaddress more than it is "help me choose a paper wallet". I was just wondering aside from the obvious differences, if there were any others that I failed to notice.

Sorry for the confusion.

A paper wallet is a form of cold storage. Cold storage is a wallet that is not connected to the internet.

Comparism between both is not too necessary because Bitaddress is far secured and gives series of options for quality performance.
