Don't forget to delete it once you've fully synced to free up 17 gigs. You don't need it anymore once it's finished sync. Title: Re: where to put bootstrap file? Post by: Bernard Lerring on June 24, 2014, 12:45:32 PM Actually, I might have got that wrong. It goes in .bitcoin on Linux, I think.
Title: Re: where to put bootstrap file? Post by: Dare on June 24, 2014, 08:22:21 PM Actually, I might have got that wrong. It goes in .bitcoin on Linux, I think. It always goes in your data directory, which is "%AppData%\Bitcoin\" on Windows, "~/.bitcoin/" on Linux, and "~/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin/" on Mac. As stated before, you can delete it once Bitcoin-qt indicates it's done syncing to free up a considerable amount of space. The wiki page (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Data_directory) can give you more specifics if you need them, but it's rather straightforward. |
