Sure it is.

If you believe that, I got some magic beans to sell you to grow your own beanstalk that'll create a Brooklyn Bridge to Nigeria.

I am not sure what you mean by a bitcoin generator. Since you posted in mining subforum. I assume you mean a bitcoin miner? The software you use to mine bitcoin with your CPU or GPU?

Mining software does work and there are quite a few of them, but the days when you can mine bitcoins with CPU or GPU is long gone. You can still mine altcoins such as Litecoins with GPU, but just barely. The difficulty has gone up so much that you need dedicated hardware called ASIC to make mining worthwhile.

Hey... we had the start of a nice story about magic beans and Nigerian princes.  Why'd you have to go wrecking that by asking serious questions? :P

Nigerian prince said it was legit.
srsly dude, dont buy every trick they sell you.

bitcoin is quite new, and lots of profits are being made, but rise in the schemes to rip off people rise twice as much.
good thing that you asked before taking action, you should allways explore those gold mines, because if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

cheers

The alleged bitcoin "generators" are fucking disgusting.
I can summarize how they work below.
  • 1 - They make a piece of shit VisualBasic executable that looks enticing and functional.
  • 2 - They make a video of the piece of shit exe "working" which includes either a forged or unrelated bitcoin transaction on an explorer.
  • 3 - They buy views and likes.
  • 4 - You, a person of average gullibility, downloads the "program" from the description.
  • 5 - You must complete a "survey" from a list of surveys.
  • 5a - The survey you complete gives your contact information or demographics to a central server that sells it to pretty much anyone.
  • 5b - The person who sent you to complete the survey - in this case the creator of the "generator" - gets a stipend, usually $2.
  • 5c - Now that your phone number/email is being sold to pretty much any company, you will get spam for the rest of your life.
  • 6 - After completing the survey, you get the download. It's an encrypted RAR with a text file saying the password can be downloaded at a certain link.
  • 7 - *click* - downloading the password requires going through number 5 again. Then you successfully unzip the archive.
  • 8 - You run the executable which, when it doesn't work, suggests you may have downloaded a bad copy or something and asks you to start over from number 4.
  • 8a - Also, a VB app can do a lot. You, "knowing full well" that a program like the one you just downloaded is used for "interesting" purposes, tells your virus scanners to bug off and ignore the program.
  • 8b - Well, now you have malware.
  • 9 - The creator of the baloney product now has some free money from idiots like you* downloading their shit.
  • 10 - They buy drugs or some shit.

No, I never downloaded a "generator" but I do have knowledge of the field (a [former] friend of mine made a Millionaire City premium currency generator and a RS 2007 partyhat generator - the latter was technically a phisher) and I sincerely hope none of you fall for this shit.
PS - this "friend" of mine scammed me for 0.2 BTC. So, yeah.
*assuming that you got this far.

"functional". If that is really functional, I bet the value of BTC would only merely be a few mili cents. They are either trying to spread a virus or trying to troll you. They can be stealing your wallet or even mine Bitcoins using your computer hardware.

I'm sure scammers are just really smart people that got scammed once and try to pass it on to others.

I can't see any sane person going on and write a scam program called " bitcoin generator " and expect people to buy that crap. but it works though.

Reminds me of those "FREE IPAD GIVEAWAY" on facebook. That has always amazed me, how hope can make people forget their self esteem and do stupid shit...

Seriously you watch everything you do regarding coins, just a month or two ago a user was "selling" an alt coin generator when you ran it, it stole all of your coins from tons of different wallets.
Even if the "generator" would not steal the other types of coins that you have mining altcoins is horribly unprofitable.

Basic rule for Bitcoin and any crypto currencies is that if it sounds too good to be true it is a trap or a scam.  Unlike regular bank deposits, crypto requires your own security as opposed to a bank's to keep you money safe.

The funniest thing about these "bitcoin generators" is how easy it is to find out they are a scam so it's hard for me to sympathize with anyone who falls for this. Just do a Google search of the link before you download it and you'll find out just how ludicrous the scam is, often targeting teenagers etc, Bitcoin is just the tip of the iceberg here.

Depends on what you mean. If you mean generating BTC adresses then yeah there could be, but it's better to use an offline wallet to get new adresses and be more safe overall.

There's also Bitcoin mining, you can get Bitcoins by using your PC and doing that process, if you wanna learn more just search on google, YouTube or look on this forum.

If you mean something that will magically make free Bitcoins for you then I'm sorry to tell you but that doesn't exist. The closest things are pages called Faucets, you gotta enter a captcha and your BTC adress and they'll give you a very small amount of BTC.

Don't download applications that promise you something for free, they're probably virus or scam.

Thing is, people new to Bitcoin see this on one of the biggest social media sites in the world, and think.. "If this is real, and if people can do this, why invest?"

I will not invest in something, that can be "knocked off" / "faked" / "pirated" ..........

Or they fall for that, and they become one of the many haters. {They will never admit, they were too stupid to fall for the scam, they will just vent their negativity towards bitcoin in public, and this will have a negative effect on all of us, who know the true worth of the currency}  >:(

If any noob just took 5-10 minutes to read up on Bitcoin or watch a few educational youtube videos, they'd know there's no such thing as a "Bitcoin Generator".

Closest thing to a Bitcoin Generator, is a Bitcoin miner, but that's a whole other thread's worth.

Any noobs still thinking about these Bitcoin generators please visit this site first:

Click on every link, read front to back and watch every video 10 times, and don't come back here until you know what Bitcoin is all about!   ;)

It's a lie and if you could post some transactions to back up your proof, I would like to see that. I am sure you're the developer here to steal some funds.

You want me to install it for you and run it for you and what? Its available for free, try it yourself. I did a lot of testing myself...and no Im not the developer. If it was me I wouldnt release it to public :)

I want you to post a transaction from the blockchain showing that you withdrew money and we can see it is from them. You do know that every transaction is on the ledger.

It sends automatically every hour or so to your wallet...

There is no such thing as a bitcoin generator, no matter what the proponents of these scams would have you believe.  The only way new bitcoins are created is by mining and creating new blocks.  That's it.  You can't just run some random program on your computer and have it create bitcoins.

I saw real bitcoin generators when visiting Indonesia.

I went by a school and saw like 15 kids in there teens, going like crazy on their exercise bicycles. It was hot as hell so I stopped to see what what up.

Turned out that they got a lot of high-end computer equipment donated after the big tsunami in 2004 (?). Of course the computers was outdated now but they still used them for mining, both.

To keep down the electicity bill, and also becouse they got shot off the power supplyment at times, they had the pupils workout on these bike, which had been transformed to small power plants.

A class had +40 kids, and during school hours every class had a daily one-hour long gymnastics class. During that hour, the kids did 15-20 minutes like crazy on the bikes, and then replaced by a new kid.

There were also some competition among them, but I didn't understand the system.

Odd stuff!

For one, there wouldn't be miners mining their ass off if they could just get it for free in a "Bitcoin generator", and obvious scam site.

because you cannot generate bitcoin in this way, without powerful asic, they are a blatant scam, they are probably using the power of your machine to mine, and to run a bot-net for mining altcoin and than convert those

but you will not recieve a great amount assuming that their software is a virus that plan to steal your wallet.dat

Yeah just link the transaction, it will be on the blockchain, it should be on your receiving transactions. That or you could link your public address and I can look into it personally.
The answer is No Comment!

How Bitcoin Generators work:
  • 10 - They withdraw a few thousand euros and take a picture of it on their carpet as proof that it works.

No, I never downloaded a "generator" but I do have knowledge of the field (a [former] friend of mine made a Millionaire City premium currency generator and a RS 2007 partyhat generator - the latter was technically a phisher) and I sincerely hope none of you fall for this shit.
*assuming that you got this far.

The bitcoin generator is an innovative tool which is able to extract bitcoins from multiple mining pools. How this is possible ? As you probably know, the bitcoin has big price in the last period so a lot of people are crazy to get more and more. Because of that, have appeared lately a lot of poor mining pools with leaks and with a lot of vulnerability things. Bitcoin generator is able to connect with the mining pool databases from where will extract bitcoins every time when a new 50 BTC block is unlocked. When the process is finished you can send the amount of bitcoins to any address!

you can see at Bitcoin Generator Video Tutorial on you tube.

Wrong.

First, you might want to understand how Bitcoin actually works.  Then, you might want to figure out how many coins are generated when a block is found -- hint it's not 50.

Even IF what you're claiming were true, then this isn't a bitcoin generator, it's a bitcoin stealer.

are you promoting this scam? you know that this is a scam at 100%, otherwise what is the reasonb to download a file from their website at the end of the procedure to earn those cois?

i followed the entire procedure even i knew that it was a scam, at the end they ask you to download a file to verify your payment(like i said previously), why when they can simply send my bitcoin to the address that i provided?

Such a discussion is raised because just like every other scam out there, the people promoting it do everything in their power to convince you it's real.  Unless you have some counterpoints to the scammers, then people would have no other information and would believe the scammer's claims.  Even with the clear evidence that such things are as fake as the picture LiteCoinGuy posted, people will still click on them, download them, go through all the steps, etc.  Why?  Because greed is a powerful force.

This scam can be stopped, but requires constant vigilance and at least a few people doing the following everyday:

1) Within Youtube Search for "Bitcoin" and than select the <Filters> dropdown and select <Today> (Videos usually called generator or hack in title)

2) Right click and open in new tab 3 of these scam videos on the first page. (If you try and report more than 3 videos within 24 hours you are presented with a captcha which wastes your time... but if you want to do more good repeat)

3) Immediately click <More> and than <Report> in rapid fire under all 3 videos (to avoid the lame soundtracks)

4) Under "Spam and misleading" select "Scam and fraud", repeat in all 3 tabs

5) Paste a pre-prepared 1-2 statements describing the fraud/malware in rapid fire across all three detail fields and than click <submit>

This process I do most days takes about 30 seconds max when you get used to it.

Right now the scam artists make enough money conning people to pay for their views to promote their video and their time setting up the fake accounts and remaking more lame videos. If enough of us do this the scammers would start losing money and stop.

If you care about the bitcoin ecosystem and don't want the credulous to be exposed to a scam as one of their early btc experiences than you will occasionally do the above.
