Share what task you wish government to do  ;D

I think 10% is enough for national defense, collecting taxes and basic law enforcement.

It doesn't matter really how much that is but how it is really spent.

The statistics on :

can show you that the % of government spending ha nothing to do with the wealth of it's citizens or life standards.

Order the data by "tax burden" , you'd be amazed to see the tops and the bottoms :).

You are right the wealth of the population depend on many thing, like productivity, competitiveness, business freedom and capital accumulation in the past. I know the heritage freedom index and i like there work (even if it's not perfect but it's a good indicator).

Maybe my question in just relevant is western state where we talk a lot about government spending and debt because it's the major threat to our prosperity.
