Title: Monero, buy or not?
Post by: JeffK on June 23, 2014, 12:23:14 PM
I'm thinking of buying 5 BTC worth of Monero. I think price is still low and today it will be added to Mintpal. I don't want it just to dump it, I have been checking the coin devs/community and it seems promising. Should I put my BTC there?

Cheers

lots of money going out of Razorshitcoin that will eventually be poured into Monero when it arrives at Mintpal.

Yea, I think Monero is best bet right now. It was traded in "small" exchanges until now and with the MintPal arrival lots of money will be invested on it.

4.4 $ now. I'm thinking to buy abou 10 XMR. But waiting maybe the price will down into abou 3.8 usd? Or dont wait and buy it now, this minute? Also thinking about NXT coz low pricem but I believe it will be 1usd and more soon.

Going in right now is a risky bet..

I bought some over the last few days and price went down :( I bought at a silly time though (high risk).

However, I'm still hoping it will go up soon. I think the coin looks promising.

Well it has to be your decision, i invested some money (luckily not mutch) like 3 days ago when the price tanked and i'm loosing my money already...will hold them and not dump them since i still hope it wasn't pump and dump.

Its the only sensible hedge to Bitcoin as it uses different codebase

Fantomcoin is better to invest in, it's the same algo + it can be merge-mined with any other Cryptonote coin, which means it has the highest survival potential of all and a more diversified mining network. Besides, it only takes 5 bitcoins to buy up all the daily production of Fantomcoin at current prices, whereas Monero's higher inflation rate and higher price requires much more funding to keep it at the price it is at. No Cryptonote currency has a first-mover advantage, they all started a little over one month ago, except for Bytecoin, which I don't review for obvious reasons. No first-mover advantage means the network effect is minimal in any of them right now and Monero's code can be copied by other Cryptonote coins very easily within a few days as Monero developers make more commits.

Dont afraid, its normal that price dropped a little. It cant all the time just grow up. But you should look closer. Before 2 weeks the price was 2usd, now is 4.4usd (before 2days was 5.5usd maximum) Its investment for long time, if you want profit, then have it for at least all.summer.

Yep after i looked on mintpal it seems that Monero has nice community support indeed althought i'll make my final decision after i'll see the mintpal volume.
But it seems that i'll hold.

I am not one of this moon guys, I like steady growth -  inflation will stop this unorganic price increases we have seen with darkcoin

that said I feel very confortable holding my xmr, the feature of the impossibility of a blockchain analysis has some very interesting implications, especially longterm

Don't, you will lose your investment in that case.

What do you suggest him?

PD: I have some XMR already.

The Mintpal add will shake the market a bit, i think 1000 btc volume could be expected in the first hours after the market opens.

Is there a solution for bloating blockchain already? I would like to invest but this issue put me off to do so...

Blockchain bloating stemmed from dust transactions from the pool software. Recently a fix was given for the problem to stop dust transactions, which in turn stops the Blockchain bloating issue.

Monero might be a bit more popular once a GUI is available.
