Title: Music industry experimenting with Bitcoin
Post by: cryptozark on June 23, 2014, 10:41:37 PM
It looks like the music industry is testing the waters.  Mastodon became the first major label artist to accept bitcoin!

I just bought the album and it the whole process was pretty easy and seamless (and I liked the songs I've heard so far).  Anyone else get it?  It's a pre-order at the moment, but it looks like the whole album drops tomorrow.

Got a flashback to internet circa mid 90's
Don't underestimate the power of music and porn, both are powerful motivators.

Micropayments make btc attractive for all content industries where the inability to do granular, usage based pricing led to an everything or nothing pricing approach

This is very exciting. IMO instead of "retweets" and "likes" as social currency, people will start using "actual" currency (ie, Bitcoin) instead.

I would like to see artists leaving labels and selling their music directly. Compact disks are going away so they are not losing much going digital only.

That's very exciting for all the people that like me are unknow musicians, Bitcoin can give us better opportunities such as "doges" donations

for our compositions. With technological advancement, there is less profit for music  :-[

This was why Napster was so successful until it was shut down by the courts. There was no real way to buy a small amount of an artists music so people would steal all of it.

This curious experiment of ours has a way of democratizing things. Get your music on a social media site or your own website with a bitcoin wallet and you can make money doing what you are best at.

This is an old thread but if mastadon kept all those coins he could have hidden wealth somewhere. Or do a 50 cent and deny the whole thing to avoid paying taxes.

Not bad! Reminds me of when Bjork first started accepting Litecoin as payment for her album https://www.theverge.com/2017/11/6/16611822/bjork-album-utopia-cryptocurrency-audiocoin (https://www.theverge.com/2017/11/6/16611822/bjork-album-utopia-cryptocurrency-audiocoin)

Music is one entertainment that can make us relax and eliminate panic. It would be better if our music listened loudly when we saw the crypto market situation that was red. I have done it to decorate myself. But I just read this news about the music industry experimenting with Bitcoin. Enough to make me smile a little today.

It is interesting to hear that bitcoin is applied in the music industry, which demonstrates the increasing influence of bitcoin on our world. And we can hope for a bright future where bitcoin is the main character

absolutely right and if this can happen then this will be very good for bitcoin to experience growth in his career, because already some of the best places are willing to accept bitcoin for payment

Actually it was good if, bitcoin can be used as payment for music app or famous sound streamline apps for music downloads. Since most people are using these famous music streaming app. I been spotify user and if bitcoin can be paid for this app it would be good, also if they can have own token spotify to reward users for using their app could give some bonus or promo for long time users. I know it's impossible but once they see the potential of blockchain maybe they can think of it.

One of the links below might help you find the page you had in mind:

They have already removed bitcoin information from the site. ? http://www.mastodonrocks.com/bitcoin

I think that many musicians and businessmen want and use bitcoin. However, while they are silent about this, since they fear pressure from the government

Hello,

Music is universal and will never lost the interest of people. It is sure that it is a very good way to promote BTC and crypto in general. I'm also sure that crypto could help in the other way the music by improving known of small artists and connections between them and investors.

Well we know that music industry is one good market but only if the illegal copier don’t exist in This world.

Why would someone need to buy album in cd/dvds or all form of album, when people can purchase them in lower prices .here in asia the illegal copies can be bought all over the place so i dont ned to use my bitcoin just for my fav music icons
