Title: Re: deactivate "lock topic" Post by: PolarPoint on June 28, 2014, 08:50:53 PM When you see a locked scam topic, the best thing to do is click "report to moderator" and give a comment. Mods will take a look and if it is a scam, they will delete the topic and ban the member.
Title: Re: deactivate "lock topic" Post by: moreia on June 29, 2014, 01:34:09 AM If there's a scammer, make a scam accusation thread and report to a mod and leave a negative trust rating
There's no need to remove the lock topic feature when there are plenty of ways to catch out a scammer even when the thread is locked JUST BECAUSE the thread is locked doesn't mean nobody can see it Title: Re: deactivate "lock topic" Post by: tysat on June 29, 2014, 02:37:38 AM When you see a locked scam topic, the best thing to do is click "report to moderator" and give a comment. Mods will take a look and if it is a scam, they will delete the topic and ban the member. Wrong! Scammers are not banned, they just end up having negative feedback left for them so they have a red trust rating. Title: Re: deactivate "lock topic" Post by: Ratio on June 29, 2014, 10:54:48 AM Right, scammers are not banned...
And as user you cant warn the members for this people Example for this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=664369.0 Create thread and look it is a simple way for scammer Title: Re: deactivate "lock topic" Post by: nahtnam on July 10, 2014, 02:06:58 AM If the new trust levels will be similar to the SMF ones, then I think Member + should have the ability to lock threads in specific categories.

Everybody should try to report If the new trust levels will be similar to the SMF ones, then I think Member + should have the ability to lock threads in specific categories. I am a Member but I think it is better to give the ability to Sr.Members and Hero Members. I don't think the moderators would like that too much they would be spammed by "this is a scam" reports which is not what the report feature is for.Title: Re: deactivate "lock topic" Post by: HeroC on July 25, 2014, 05:28:18 PM I think it should be allowed for Mods, and Senior & Hero Members. That way non-scammers can still use the feature, and mods can lock topics.

Mods will take a look and if it is a scam, they will delete the topic and ban the member. Mods do not delete scams and AFAIK they do not ban scammers either. The forum uses a caviet emptor policy (buyer beware). The OP is correct in saying that a lot of people are creating threads selling something and then locking it so no one can question then in a public setting. |
