Title: Trades Below Minimum Amount on Bitstamp?
Post by: btcdt95 on June 30, 2014, 06:38:51 PM
Hi all,

Can someone explain why, although the minimum trade on Bitstamp used to be $0.86 (and is now $5), there are lots of transactions in the data provided by bitcoincharts.com that are below $0.86 and $5 respectively?

To see trade amount I take the CSV from bitcoincharts.com, and get dollars traded=price*volume

~21,300 out of the ~4 million or so trades before May 15, 2014 have dollars traded < $0.86
~9600 trades after May 15, 2014 have dollars traded < $5

Is bitcoincharts just wrong, or is there some way to trade below the minimum amount?

Thanks!

This thread had an explanation of something similar, but I'm not too sure because it is a slightly higher amount.

It could be BitcoinCharts, but I doubt it if they are using the Bitstamp API. It is probably either the explanation that I posted earlier or incorrect stats on Bitstamps side.
