Title: Next parities to watch
Post by: epii on April 28, 2011, 06:28:44 PM
Omani rial: 2.5973 USD
Bahraini dinar: 2.6527 USD
Kuwaiti dinar: 3.6450 USD

After that, there are no higher-valued national currency units.  So... XAU, I guess.  :P

The people of Oman can celebrate already, because MtGox touched $2.65 today. The Bahrainis missed out by a fraction of a cent.

At this rate you'll have to start abandon currencies and look to less conventional milestones... I'm looking forward to when 1 BTC buys you a big mac, personally.

Since the decimal in Bitcoin is arbitrary where it is, I'm looking forward to 1 Satoshi = $1.

If 1 Satoshi = $1.

It would be interesting to have a page plotting a graph (perhaps with Y being logarithmic) of how much of each currency 1 BTC buys over time, with lines marking 0.5¤, 1¤ , 2¤, 5¤, 10¤, 20¤, 50¤, 100¤ and so on (or some other choice of significant numbers)

And now the Kuwaiti dinar is the last target.

Plato's cross-country #BitcoinRoadtrip has made it as far as New Orleans.

He reports that the BTC/MGD is currently at parity.

Not too many interesting parities coming up soon.
We just passed: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=price+of+1+kg+of+copper
Coming up: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=price+of+1+gram+of+osmium
Perhaps before long we'll hit: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=price+of+1+ounce+of+silver
And then: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=price+of+1+gram+of+gold

1/2 troy ounce of silver = $18.12
(or 1/2 avoirdupois ounce of silver = $16.52)

Either way, "half an ounce of silver" will be my mental image for bitcoins for the next... however many hours they hover around this price.
