Title: Blockchain.info VS wallet info
Post by: spazzdla on July 01, 2014, 11:35:59 PM
Block chain says this address has BTC 1.1 .. My wallet says BTC 1.5 ... should be 1.5

I've heard Blockchain isn't always right, another spot to check possibly?

I've never had blockchain show a different amount than I have in my wallet. why don't you check on your Bitcoin client.

addresses and wallets are different.. you have 0.4btc in the change address

in your 'mywallet' go to 'export' and you will probably see mor then 1 address.

balance check those addresses and add up the total

Blockchain is sometimes slow to update in my own experience
But they shouldn't be off on the figure itself

What wallet service do you use? If it is multibit, then it can sometimes show incorrect balances for a number of reasons.

I would suggest to restart and reset your wallet to see if it will resolve itself this way.

It should also be noted that most wallets will contain more then one bitcoin address.

Also, if you don't know how to use the wallet's commands, you could follow the transaction history from your main address.
Chances are that it sent the missing 0.4 BTC to another address which is controlled by you, and which should have no more no less than that amount.

As someone else has correctly pointed out that addresses are different from wallet. A wallet consists of a bunch of addresses. But, it is true that blockchain.info is also going through some issues. SO here are the alternatives...

1. http://blockr.io/address/info/19Z9E7bHdHkWBVpKnkaQYJd56PiLvUXBy8

2. https://helloblock.io/addresses/19Z9E7bHdHkWBVpKnkaQYJd56PiLvUXBy8

3. https://www.biteasy.com/blockchain/addresses/19Z9E7bHdHkWBVpKnkaQYJd56PiLvUXBy8

4. https://chain.so/address/BTC/19Z9E7bHdHkWBVpKnkaQYJd56PiLvUXBy8

5. https://bkchain.org/btc/address/19Z9E7bHdHkWBVpKnkaQYJd56PiLvUXBy8

May be you need to update the blockchain of your client, it's possible that it's not up-to-date or corrupt and which is why it is not showing some transactions that happened after it was last time updated.

Go to "help", "debug window", "console" and enter "listunspent" to show all the pieces of bitcoin you have in your wallet.

Put the wallet on two different computers to check the balance.

Not too sure if it was the address thing..  I just assumed it was/is and stopped caring... :S lol.

speaking of these two, does anyone know a step by step for using the wallet.info to back up a balance?

Fantastic question.  I was wondering that myself.   (Is it as simple as downloading the wallet, and overwriting the file?)
