Title: Is it really profitable to start a bitcoin casino?
Post by: X_X_X on July 02, 2014, 10:47:04 AM
I've seen people in this forum selling their casino scripts, and I was wondering if this is still worthwhile to start this kind of business... even though the internet is probably full of these casino clones... what do you think?
if it were that easy everyone would be rich.

Of course it's profitable but as you mentioned there are many bitcoin casinos. It seems to be a great way of getting a lot of bitcoins but it wont be an easy get rich quick scheme as I'm sure there's a lot of problems you can run into. Laws and scammers etc. I don't think just buying a script and setting up a website would be a good idea unless you know what you're doing.

I've been thinking a bit about this myself as well.

I don't think it would be profitable to just make a shitty site and copy/paste some random casino scripts. But done right with a twist and a large portion of love and hard work, I think there is a lot of room for such a business. I haven't at all given the legal aspects any thought yet though  :)

PM me if you want to hear some more about my ideas.

Don't forget the need to risk a large stake of money at first in order to pay out winnings!

Entire city is built in a desert because of casinos. I bet they are profitable. Before you start a bitcoin casino, think about security first. Your site will be a target for hackers every single day while it is running.

Bitcoins casinos can be mega profitable but I'd heed the advice others have already given.

Exactly. Nobody is going to play at just another PrimeDice clone but if you could offer something unique or interesting you could give it a go. As another user mentioned you also need to have a large bankroll to finance the casino to pay out winners. Many casinos offer investment opportunities but it's hard to get people to trust you as many are just scams.

Bets will of course be limited as you build up the bank. But there are more ways to make money in a Casion than to just hope that your customers will never have a lucky day (No, I'm not talking about rigging the games) ;)

That's where the love and hard work comes into play, it needs to be much more than just a crappy website.  Also, the entire operation needs to be as transparent as absolutely possible to everyone, so there can be no question of fraud or rigged games.

And this of course goes for anyone who has a talent and perhaps could be interested in a project  :)

hmm but it doesn't have to be so large if the price of a round is small, maybe with 1 or 2 bitcoin for payouts would be ok. Since the casino has always a higher % of win, it should never descend too much of that initial stake, I think..

It's profitable in the long run, don't accept to get returns very fast, a lot of btc casinos failed just because they didn't had enough capital to keep it running for a longer duration. Take a look at Gambling and Games and Rounds section, where new casinos are usually listed and people come there to inform/advertise about their new projects but as I said it requires investing a lot of time plus money in setting it up and then in promotions/bonuses to get the word out.
