Indeed (+Mooncoin).

Can you imagine if even just 3 of these coins integrated and shared code and plans?
They would be a whole new bitcoin type force to recon with.

Lol

These are not coins I own. These are coins that have ACTUAL goals, instead of just small changes.

These are coins that are based on Sports, Regions and Change. Instead of just coins that are meant to move the altcoin community around, they are coins that can BRING NEW PEOPLE to the crypto world.

Sorry OP but I have to agree, these seem like they were picked out of a hat.

For example: Independence Coin? Really? That coin has had no activity for months!

Most of those coins did reach their goals, in that most of their goals were to reach people based in the region they named the coin after.

Ex: Did you see how big Football coin got? That could become the first massive sports betting coin... Or University coin could be used to buy books.

These are not "Unreachable" you are just "Overly Cynical" and "Willfully Ignorant" which only means that you are ignoring the facts in order to get your point across, I do not mean it insultingly.

Independence coin was the best "America coin" I could find. And if the Tea Party got a hold of it, it would pick up FAST.

Bitmark deserves better company ;)

Bitmark has lots of potential. Hopefully some more people can support the project soon and it can launch.

These local coins are a bit useless I think when we're dealing with worldwide digital currency.

Honestly, we could put ANY coin next to Bitmark and say that.
My hopes was that these coins would become part of a Bitmark community web or something. They are already regional and hobby based, and can bring new people in.

Sorry, your idea is good and has its merits. I didn't mean to say anything negative regarding your coin.

Anything with a country or place name is a moronic idea. It defeats one of the main attractions of any good currency; being accepted by as many people as possible. Why would I use Californiacoin, when I could use Bitcoin, which is accepted by the rest of the world as well?

All of the coins here have merits and are better than any "Gold Coin" or "Master Coin" or "Next Coin" or anything that just has some RANDOM name. These are all based on something that actually means something to people that have never heard of coins before.

Hi I was not referring to you with my comment at all! A misunderstanding :) - although while I'm here you might consider being a little more sporting - if you believe a coin to be the best then you can obviously just say so without being negative about the others. I hope you were not worried.

My comment was meant for the OP to forget about the people just coming on to the thread, saying something negative and then leaving again. We have no such behaviour allowed on carboncointalk (http://carbon-co.in), please join up if it is of interest

LOL...Potcoin, because potheads want a coin that says Pot, so they aren't confused? What exactly do they bring to Bitcoin?

The same could be said of most other coins in the OP. The goal: Pump.

Why make things confusing with hundred currencies worldwide, when we can use one everyone understands and supports...

Fortunatelly crypto coins are decentralized, so using one worldwide mean no one really controls it, no need for hundred currencies

I'd be very interested to learn what is meant by "the next level".

I meant where it is no longer just a community of fringe developers, mining into centralization.

So, you don't think that Bitcoin has more support than it should for a pretty good computer program? It is already larger in market cap than some nations, and is accepted in countries all around the world. It needs decentralization.

Coins that TOTALLY could push Bitcoin to the next level

So.. these coins are going to help bitcoin? Or you think footballcoin will be the next bitcoin? I don't get it.

How will these coins help bitcoin?

Is this a list of the coins you own?

So many questions. :D

Football coin Ex: I think Football coin could be Bitcoins gambling coin. There coin be a Football coin exchange and everything, and as long as no money is involved it would be completely legal.

They will help Bitcoin by bringing new people to it, just like they ALL brought people to this website that probably would not have come if it were not for that coin.

No, this is not a list of coin I own.

Thank you for your clarification.

edit:
FWIW, my sense is that at present, coin communities are mostly populated by miners (rather than devs) with a few "civilians" dotted around the edges if your lucky. I see miners as being very important to a coins immediate "health"- especially at launch. Attracting a wider and more varied community w/could enhance a coin's longevity and I agree with the thinking that a coin with clear goals, achievable or idealistic, has a better chance of building a mainstream community.

Great topic!

Its a new direction in crypto and a welcome sight to see coins out there that do something more then just have a following.

Ive been a big fan of Devcoin for some time, its a great platform for developers, writers and artists to show there work and get support for there efforts.
Carbon coin is based on actual carbon sequestration programs that mitigate the environmental effects of crypto mining with real world environmental projects funded by its community.

All of these coins add value and legitimacy to the crypto community by bringing in people who otherwise wouldn't be using crypto currencies into the market.
The road to mass adoption is itself, mass adoption and for that we need diversity, decentralization and tangible concepts that I feel these coins represent.

I actually agree with Brilliantrocket. "Country Coins" like Spaincoin etc etc, are shitcoins. There's no use for coins like that, since Bitcoin can already be used all around the world.

Has anyone made an Altcoin to finance a political campaign ever? Like "Suppot X Candidate by mining and donating X coin"

And someone should make a Joe Rogan coin, he would probably think it was awesome and it would get coverage on not only this forum, but it would probably get pretty good traction in the forum on JoeRogan.net and he would probably talk about it on his podcast at some point.

I was given a dollar once, but the bureau de change said it was too small a quantity to exchange and nobody else would touch it. It was just a piece of paper I couldn't spend.
