Title: Electrifying: Giant futuristic 'Tesla Tower' in abandoned woods near Moscow Post by: Balthazar on July 08, 2014, 10:39:26 AM http://rt.com/news/170704-tesla-tower-lightning-russia/
Quote No, it’s not an alien colony, a time machine, or even a Russian version of America’s ionospheric HAARP program. But in a forest near Moscow, this Soviet-era “lightning machine” has a capacity arguably equal to Russia’s entire electricity output. Bloggers flock to see this technical marvel, which has been dubbed the “High Voltage Marx and Tesla Generators Research Facility.” The testing range, a branch of the Russian Electrical Engineering Institute, is in the sleepy town of Istra, 40 kilometers west of Moscow. The secret, open-air, high-voltage testing device was constructed in the late 1970s for testing insulators to protect vehicles, aircrafts and electronic equipment against lightning. The facility is absolutely unique; nothing like it exists anywhere in the world, primarily because of its outstanding charge capacity. At its peak operating capacity the giant Marx generator, when lightning is discharged onto an isolated platform, has power equal to all power generation facilities in Russia – including thermoelectric, hydroelectric, nuclear, solar, and wind power stations combined. But only for about 100 microseconds, Rossiya-1 TV reported. http://cdn.rt.com/files/news/29/ad/00/00/tesla-coil-marx-generator.si.jpg http://rt.com/files/news/29/ad/00/00/teslacoilmap-1.jpg http://rt.com/files/news/29/ad/00/00/teslacoil-5.jpg http://rt.com/files/news/29/ad/00/00/teslacoil-2.jpg http://rt.com/files/news/29/ad/00/00/teslacoil-11.jpg Quote The Istra “lightning machine,” unparalleled in its discharge capacity, consists of a 3 Megawatt capacity transformer cascade; a 9 Megawatt Pulsed Voltage Generator (PVG), measuring 39.3 meters high, capable of creating 150-meter artificial lightning, believed to be largest in the world; and a 2.25 Megawatt constant voltage unit. Nice device :) Title: Re: Electrifying: Giant futuristic 'Tesla Tower' in abandoned woods near Moscow Post by: Nemo1024 on July 08, 2014, 10:46:19 AM This is an exciting and "electrifying" project. :)

If you had actually read the article before posting, you'd know what these are for. :P Quote The secret, open-air, high-voltage testing device was constructed in the late 1970s for testing insulators to protect vehicles, aircrafts and electronic equipment against lightning. And also: Quote The Istra research center has conducted many tests since Soviet times. Among the latest carried out were lightning protection tests for Russia’s Sukhoi Superjet aircraft. So, no C&C Tesla Coil like direct application yet, unfortunately. ;) Title: Re: Electrifying: Giant futuristic 'Tesla Tower' in abandoned woods near Moscow Post by: Balthazar on August 21, 2014, 09:56:51 PM Tadaam! It seems that you can't stop thinking about the Communists even while reading articles about science, watching a movie or having sex. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Forrestal Following him would be much simpler for you. :) Title: Re: Electrifying: Giant futuristic 'Tesla Tower' in abandoned woods near Moscow Post by: Nemo1024 on February 13, 2015, 01:54:26 PM Drone Footage: Tesla Tower in Russian winter
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tcTwW2_WrU Quote Normally hidden from prying eyes, Ruptly was allowed take exclusive drone footage of the stunning 'Tesla Tower' in the Moscow region. The vast research site is home to general enormous voltage impulse generators that potentially have the capacity to equal Russia's entire electricity output Title: Re: Electrifying: Giant futuristic 'Tesla Tower' in abandoned woods near Moscow Post by: ajareselde on February 13, 2015, 03:53:40 PM This is an exciting and "electrifying" project. :) Also on the topic: Russian scientists raising funds to rebuild Tesla Tower, satisfy world energy hunger http://rt.com/news/170468-tesla-tower-rebuild-project/ And the direct link to fund-raising site ($31000 already raised): https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/let-s-build-a-planetary-energy-transmitter Tempting cause, but decades ahead of possible solution. Tesla had something today's scientist dont have , and thats ability to imagine. Everything today is, even more than it was before for money harvesting, profit seeking, and not to benefit humanity fore free. Many would not agree, but i dont believe its possible to make energy for all humanity (world battery project), i believe it was , and will remain, just an idea. Title: Re: Electrifying: Giant futuristic 'Tesla Tower' in abandoned woods near Moscow Post by: jaysabi on February 13, 2015, 05:10:09 PM Does this machine generate electricity? I guess I don't understand fully what it does. If it generates electricity, what does it use as fuel? The article says it's very expensive to turn on, so I don't understand what makes it so expensive to run. Is it the materials it requires to run, or the expertise of the personnel required to run it?
Title: Re: Electrifying: Giant futuristic 'Tesla Tower' in abandoned woods near Moscow Post by: Balthazar on February 13, 2015, 05:34:08 PM It was built to perform lightning simulation, which was necessary to test the aircrafts. It seems that it has autonomous power supply but I couldn't find the details.
Title: Re: Electrifying: Giant futuristic 'Tesla Tower' in abandoned woods near Moscow Post by: Tusk on February 13, 2015, 06:35:15 PM The most interesting alternative theory I have come across is the Electric Universe or EU by the Thunderbolts Project, it turns the Big Bang cosmology completely on its head with very compelling evidence. It postulates that or Sun and other cosmological phenomena are electrically driven as opposed to thermonuclear, without black holes, dark matter and dark energy.
Their models though requiring further research are far more logical and self evident then the traditional ones, a great case in point is the rosetta mission which while remarkable in accomplishment to land a craft on an asteroid is certainly not a body comprised mainly of ice but rather rocky material. If correct the EU would suggest massive inexhaustible electrical potential to be harvested without the need for nuclear, bio or fossil fuels. The way I like to picture it is the earth sun moon and stars are massive electric motors But so as not to steal the EU's thunder here are a few good podcasts to watch. I have heard if it was not for his unfortunate death electricity might be free a few stories of wires crisscrossing all over a field to try and generate some super electrical currents Tesla Towers :) (Next we will have Electric Railguns and an Index ^^) Here is a moment when you can say you have lightning superpowers http://rt.com/files/news/29/ad/00/00/teslacoil-11.jpg |
