Title: Fantasy Premier League
Post by: Acidyo on July 08, 2014, 12:04:37 PM
Hello everyone!

After the interest in the off-topic thread about the World Cup games and finals I got this idea to create a league where players from this forum can join and challenge each other on a weekly basis when the Premier League starts.

After playing with some friends in a league last year, we had this cool way of betting against eachother.

Here is my plan on how to turn this into a fun game where people can bet against eachother and play in a fantasy league together.

There are 38 games in a season, starting on the 16th of August.

Before the first game, everyone will sign up on fantasy.premierleague.com and join the league that I will create. (Invite codes will be sent through PM's to those willing to participate)

There will be 2 leagues in total, both a little different from each other.

First one will consist of a starting fee (prices aren't fixed yet but let's go with some examples for now)

Entrance fee: 0.05 per player. Max 200-300 players.

Let's say after the first two weeks there are 200 players signed up, signups will be closed after the 2nd gameweek.

200 players have paid 0.05 to join. 200x0.05= 10 btc.

At the end of the season the one with the max points will receive 80% of the total, 2nd place 15% and 3rd place 5% (share is open for change, whatever the community deems fair)

Second one will consist of players who want to participate that week, will send a weekly fee to the address for this league of let's say 0.01 btc. (200x0.01=2 btc)
this one will have a winner on a weekly basis. The one who receives the most points that gameweek will receive 80% of the total and 15% for the 2nd place and 5% for 3rd. (also open for change)

The amount to be paid is also open for change for both leagues depending on what the community seems fair and how much interest there is.

We played last year with friends and others the style of the 2nd league option above. What was most annoying was collecting payments from everyone since we had a 20€ weekly fee. This is where bitcoin will turn this into an effortless gambling section where players are only known through their bitcointalk ID's or fantasy league ID's and will be able to receive their winnings easily to their addresses.

All receiving addresses will be public and no one will know who's addresses they belong to as signups and payments will go through PM's or email for the leagues. So you don't need to worry about that, or just use a new address for sending and receiving payments for this.

Details will be worked on but for now I would like to know how big the interest for this is in the community.

Cheers,

Acidyo

Hi,

Put me on the list to be sent the invite codes, I play anyway and would happily join a few more leagues.

Really like the weekly payment Idea as it gives people a chance to play who don't necessarily keep on top of their teams all season.

Thanks for the interest guys!

Would be nice with a couple more people, but there is still a lot of time until it starts and I'm sure more will be interested before that time comes. Stay tuned. :)

Sounds fun!
I might join this..
though the full season league is too demanding, I'm not sure I'll be able to track my team every week...

Hey,

Interesting idea. Count me in !!

Also if you can write me a small explanation of how would you want this to work i can probably get some sort of app made for it.

The simpler you make it the easier it would be to build and probably can be done before the start of the season.

Regards

Duke.

Hey Acidyo,

If you gather enough interest, we may be able to offer to host everything over at betmoose.com - we could customize some of our functionality to better cater to your league. Not sure if you've ever had a look but it's pretty much ready as-is if you guys all make accounts. We can also provide escrow and a multi-sig service; should hopefully be as turnkey as possible for the players.

Hope we can help!

Adam

Will the funds be Escrow'd?

Seems Betmoose may be able to host it. If not then Im sure someone will escrow it for the normal fee.

Is their anything new?

I want to suggest another idea:
a Last Man Standing contest,
where every week everyone are picking one team that will win,
and if they right they continue to the next week,
and the last man standing will take it all.
The catch is that you can choose each team only once...

What do you think about it?

I don't really understand how a Fantasy League works , can someone explain it to me ?
Wikipedia doesn't help much either so , I'm kinda stuck.

I'll probably be up for it as long as the buy in is not too high.

Also, shouldn't this be in the Games and Rounds section ?

Start on the helpage on the site that will be used   http://fantasy.premierleague.com/rules/

The very basics are however that you start the season with £100mm and choose a team of 11 and 4 substitutes. You then manage your team throughout the season which includes choosing captains (who get double points) and formations, tranfers etc.

Points are then given to players each week depending on their performance (clean sheets, goals, assists etc).

Person with the most points at the end of the season wins.

(very low level overview)

I haven't set one up, just pointing out where best to host the event. Is this still going ahead? I'm happy just to play, don't have to wager anything on it just bragging rights.

We'll be rolling out fixed-odds soon on BetMoose (https://www.betmoose.com). You guys can host up some bets on there, minimum wager is 0.005 but you all get accounts with built in accuracy and ROI tracking if that helps. Or, you can even do it now with our parimutuel setup, much more intimate if you guys have a set amount of players.

Okay guys the website has been revamped.
We only have about 5 days before the league starts so if you are still interested, join now before its too late. Its as easy as filling out a form and sending the payment through, then you join the league. Or we can do it straight here if you guys prefer, just send me a Private message so that we can register you. Heres the link to the website:

Bumping this up.

Gordoh and myself will be taking care of the league and all participants involved. If there is interest we can escrow the funds for the whole season competition to a trusted escrow, and for weekly competitions we nay do that as well if the community and all members that will join want that.

This week we will try and spread out the idea all over so we can gather as many participants aa possible. You can also help out with this so we cn get a nice start on the season with many members.

We will also be discussing all different types of leagues we want to create. The best ideaa so far are a full season league where the 3 top players will be awarded in the end with a price depending ob the entrence fee. Then we will have weekly competitions where players can bet and join that weekly league for most points that week. And we are also thinking about doing monthly competitions since not everyone will be able or have the time/endurance to fantasy through the whole season.

If yiu have other ideas feel free to post then here.

sorry for the typos, had to writr this on my phone.

Prepare for an awesome league made easy for betting agaibst anyone anywhere in the world through the power of bitcoin!:)

Hey guys

I know this is an old topic, but I wanted to inform you guys that the 5 week league is going ahead. We have had a good response for our first attempt at this, and the pot stands at 0.1BTC already. And it will grow as more people enter.

The prize divisions go like this:

1st place - 60% of the pot ----> which is 0.06BTC at the moment
2nd place - 30% of the pot ---> which is 0.03BTC at the moment
3rd place - 10% of the pot ---> which is 0.01BTC at the moment

The 5 week league will start on the 1st of november, which will be gameweek 10, and end on the 8th of december, end of gameweek 15.

Entry to the league is only 0.005BTC which will go directly into the pot. I am not taking anything, and I have added extra BTC out of my own pocket to build up some interest.

Visit the website http://btcpremierleague.com ,send me a mail or reply on this thread if you want to join.

Thanks guys  :)
