Title: Antminer S2 1TH/s vs. Gridseed 1.1TH/s A1
Post by: Junkbarman on July 10, 2014, 04:03:17 AM
Ok, so is the antminer that much better? I see about a ~$800-$1200 price difference between the two.

About the only think I see is the watts, and of course that's a long term concern.

So what gives, I've trolled around in search of this answer..Performance wise, is that much difference?

you need to understand.  that power has a lot to do with mining

the s-2 can be run on a single 15 amp circuit with power to spare.  in fact if you pull one of the 10 blades and run 9 blades it is very reliable .

also realize 400 usd coupons are still around.

the gridseed sucks hard on power.

1300 watts for 1.1th

more like 1350 watts for 1050gh.

you do not have the ability to pull a blade and drop 10%  since it has 5 blades.

so one unit can do 900gh at 900 watts>>> with over head and a spare blade.

the other  1050 gh at 1350 watts

other reasons to get the s-2  a direct upgrade to an s-4 may occur very soon.

Frankly I would not want either one .

I want a few s-3's  4 to 8 of them.  I have 2 on order right now.  i will wait for them to arrive and get setup then order more.

What does that mean? Firmware update?

Whats your advantage of the s3, is it because you don't wnat/know how to pull your own power and make an outlet?

I could list about 10 reasons for s-3's over s-4'

1) I have 7 psu's
2) s-3's cost less
3) s-3's will downvolt + downclock run quietly
4) s-3's will ship easier due to lower weight
5) an s-3 cost .725 btc this is under 450 usd.  I run a business btc sales under 600 usd involve less paper work
6) I have a spot in an office that will allow for 2 s'3 at 400gh 480-550 watts price for power 2.24 cents a k-watt
7) Im my home I can place them in 5 different rooms when the weather is cold reducing my heating bill by a few hundred usd each month.
8) no rasp pi needed means no card corruption
9) no rasp pi means auto booting after power failure is fixed
10) no rasp pi means auto booting after net failure is fixed
11) smaller units are easier to sell in 3 -5 months

My home was rewired during 1998 to 2001.

I did every circuit in 10 gauge wire .  I went from 20 circuits to 40 circuits  from 100 amp to 200 amp.

My home was built during the Vietnam war copper shortage. 1970  it was all aluminum wiring except the ac 220 line.

I replaced it all with copper.  I was into music ht subs  and ran many power circuits extra. My garage has 5x  20 amp circuits did it for a speaker building setup a lot of power tools etc.  I had no idea that doing all this would pay off 10 year later as I can run 6k in asics.

I can run lots of gear and have run 23 gpus using 11 pc's in 2012  .. 6000 watts hot hot hot  earned 1 coin a day.
