What is RateGuess.com?
RateGuess.com is the place to bet on next day close price of most stock or index on NYSE, NASDAQ or AMEX. There are over 2000+ symbols to choose from.

How to place a bet?
Please note you can only bet during non-trading hours on trading days or whole day holidays. Firstly, choose a symbol, the symbol system we use is from Yahoo Finance. We support most stock and index on NYSE, NASDAQ and AMEX. Secondly, guess the close price of the next trading session and enter it. Thirdly, enter the bitcoin amount you wish to wager for it. Finally click the [Place Bet] Button. You can check all pending bets in the [Pending] Tab.

What is the rule of this game?
The pot is all the funds that are wager on a specific symbol on a trading day. The basic rule is whoever guess the price closest to the actual close price double his/her wager but is limited to the pot. If there're still money in the pot, then the next closest can also get funds, up to double his/her wager, until the whole pot are paid out.

For example, user A guess AAPL (Apple Inc.) next day close price will be 90.5 and wager 0.1 btc. user B guess AAPL will be 90.8 and wager 0.2 btc. user C guess AAPL will be 89.5 and bet 0.2 btc. If AAPL next close price is 90.2, so the whole pot is 0.1btc+0.2btc+0.2btc=0.5btc; Now user A can get 0.1 x 2 = 0.2 since ABS(90.5-90.2)=0.3 is the closest guess, but need to pay 2% on his profit. so he will receive 0.198 btc, the pot is left with 0.3 btc. Then user B can get 0.3btc (0.2 x 2 = 0.4btc is greater than 0.3btc) since ABS(90.8-90.2)=0.6 is the next closest guess and after the service fee will receive 0.298 btc. The pot is now 0btc so user C will not get any fund back, because ABS(89.5-90.2)=0.7 is the worst guess.

Can I delete bets after I placed them?
You can delete bets you placed before trading session begin (9:30AM on trading day). After that all bets are final and cannot be deleted. To delete a bet, just click the trash bin icon on the right of the bet on [Pending] tab.

What measures should I take to protect my funds?
RateGuess.com use advanced encryption methods to protect all user's funds. Also, you can take certain measures to protect your funds. Never give out your secure ID or password to anyone. After using our service on a shared computer, press [Logout] on [Account] page. We recommend set a password for maximum safety, it can be set on [Account] page. Do not forget your secure ID and password, protect it like your bitcoin wallet.

some profit taking going on, I would rather bet a bit lower today on S&P 500

9:15AM now, No bet after market open at 9:30AM, need to wait till market close at 4:00PM to bet on tomorrow.

Do you have the option to bet also on the value of different alt coins?

Not right now I think, but if someday NYSE or NASDAQ can offer such an ETF then you can bet on it.

as for the background, I feel this one looks a bit like the chart pattern of some stock. But don't worry, I can easily change that

I've been looking for something like this for a long time. What will max bet be?  I ask because if someone has enough money they could ensure they win their bet by literally trading the vehicle being used to determine winning price. Well, of course it wouldn't work for something like S&P but for a smaller stock it would.

There's actually NO max bet, Currently it's set to be 10000btc.  But you are free to bet multiple times on the same price and symbol.

But I would rather bet small on small stocks, bet big on big stocks such as AAPL & XOM and bet bigger on things like S&P Index or Nasdaq Index  ;D

I feel this thing is very good for automated trading. just focus on the algorithm, no need to worry about gaps, stop-losses, spikes... . And it has build-in risk control, you can never lose more than your wager.

In short, 3 steps,

1. Choose a symbol ( APPL, XOM, JPM, etc ... )
2. Guess a price you think most likely to be the next trading session close price of the symbol you choose.
3. Enter your wager ( in bitcoin amount)

When I look at the site it looks like you have to guess the exact closing price, is that correct?  I had assumed you could guess whether it would go up or down in a given day, but to guess the exact closing price is almost impossible.

No that is not the case, you only need to guess better than others and you win the price.

i am thinking s&p 500 will go up a bit today, bet it would close around 1976 or so,  :)

the system can not accept bets on ^DJI, but you can bet on DIA which is the ETF for Dow Jones Industrial Average.

How do you predict stock & index? Lots of approaches I guess.  ;D
