Title: Monero?
Post by: Falcon98 on July 10, 2014, 03:12:32 PM
Is 40 hash/s much for mining Monero ? And Is Monero worth mining? Which coins can I mine with CPU and make it worth it?

Sorry typos!

I attempted to use Monero about a month back.  It was very technical.  I would recommend mining Darkcoin for POW.

All the posts about Monero blockchain bloat are a bit of a turn off.

I think litecoin and dogecoin are the wortheist coins for mining

That's totally wrong. LTC and DOGE is dying. If you want to make profit, mine XMR and hold.

Well try a little mining of XPM primecoin on ypool.com. I was very satisfied of the ypool service when I was mining back in the days :)
XPM is very interesting coin which helps the science :)
You can check it out at: http://primecoin.io/

Another world record broken on 5/16! We found our first 14 length Cunningham chain of the second kind! Which has on origin with 100 digits.

Keep mining :)

None of the coins is good to mine with that speed, since you will not be able to get even 0.5$ per day, it's not worth wasting your CPU for that.

Should I buy some bitcoins and invest something with it?

That would be the single best thing to do.  Mining requires time and monitoring, especially on a laptop.  Time that could be working to acquire fiat which could be used to buy crypto.   It ends up being more efficient.

The risk of damage to a laptop doesn't warrant anything you might earn on it.  If it does get damaged under warranty, some companies like Asus sometimes take 2 months to RMA a laptop.

My laptop is also mining XMR at 40H/s and I'm keeping him there :) XMR is a coin with a nice future, and since I have free electricity and the laptop is almost obsolete, I don't care ;)
