305$ ::)

Considering that thing is 2 GPU generations old, that's pretty damn good.

If today's nice little jump in the exchange rate sticks, then mining profitability starts going up again (the price is rising faster than difficulty).

But when those operators are buying FPGAs and selling their old GPU hardware that equipment is often going to other miners.  So difficulty will probably start rising at a faster pace from here, regardless of price.  And if the price doesn't continue to rally, GPU miners paying higher electricity rates are going to start dropping out.

Performance wise it's still a killer card, and also one of the most energy efficient ones i think.

At $305 for a fully working card the payback is pretty fast.  I have bought many cards in the $300-$350 range.  If they are still worth $305 then they have been a good investment!

$300 is a no brainer buy.  $350 is what I would consider fair value.  $400 you are pushing it. Insanely a month ago some were going for $425, $450, $500 and yes even $550.  No fraking clue what those noobs were thinking.  No way it is gamers.  $550.  Lets see a 7970 or a 2 generation old 5970?  Hmm.  Not a card call for a gamer.

305$ ::)
It sold for $335 + $80 shipping.
So it really sold for market value. May have been sold to someone outside of North America with that shipping price. Such a low price would attract foreign buyers weighing market value where they live.

That's not the only models that happened to during the same period of time. 5870's and 5850's jumped $30-$50 above fair. 5850's were selling for like $190-$200 and 5870's were selling for $225-$240. Why people would be willing to pay high prices for second hand items amazes me. When I buy from ebay I'm selective and patient sticking to my values, looking to get at least one year of use out of a card so I pay it off and generate some profit.

I could see the winning bid from your link of it, but it just didn't appear in my ebay browser session under completed listings, like it was being hidden from me.
