You just need to put the bootstrap.dat in your bitcoin data directory (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Data_directory).

IF you want to avoid waiting for like 5 hours for wallet to sync, than start using multibit wallet, simple and synced in 5 seconds, it's linked directly to blockchain.info, so no problems with speed.

MultiBit is only available for Windows, Mac and Linux.
But here is something you may be interested in, althought it  doesn't support multiple wallets : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.schildbach.wallet

I haven't used that myself, but judging from the feedback in https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4384.0, it works great. :)

I suggest you to download blockchain from the beginning. Takes a bit of time, but its the safest method.

theres nothing but to wait until the wallet downloads the network = syncing the wallet.

Just wait it out and leave it on while you do something else.

You never really explained what you meant with your statement that your sync is messed up.  From your statements, I can only assume that you've downloaded the Bitcoin-QT core software and have started it up.

Try this post here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=145386.0

That should point you in the right direction.

He meant that he downloaded an updated copy of the blockchain and was wondering which directory to put it in.  Once you copy that into the right directory Bitcoin-QT can bypass all but the most recent blocks.

It is perfectly safe to use the bootstrap.dat torrent, and it helps reducing the p2p network workload.

and if you do a wallet backup before the wallet syncs, it would be as effective as doing it with the wallet sync?

Can I export wallet.dat from Bitcoin core and use no other faster wallets?

Yup, as you are backing up the private keys of your addresses and the wallet sync doesn't affect it. :)

You can export the private keys and import them on any wallet clients you like.

Or, you can directly upload your wallet.dat in the page https://blockchain.info/wallet/import-wallet to use blockchain.info wallet.

Use multibit, its 100 times better for normal usage (you are using application for servers)
