Useless thread. This belongs in one of the speculations area. And who cares how much it sells for, not like any of the ones that got burned by mtgox will ever get anything significant from it, even if it sells for a couple $millions.

Probably less that Bitcoin.com, if that domain was sold.

Nowadays I would say around $600,000, tomorrow who knows... price is as voluble as BTC itself right now.

According to their auction page, their estimate is $750,000+. I think $2.3 million is a bit too high.

I agree with this price and analysis. It could go for more, but the 's' in "bitcoins.com" lowers the value significantly

Just my gut feeling... somewhere at or under 500k. But the price of domains is highly subjective. It's worth how much the highest bidder will think it's worth.

i have noticed that there are a lot of clueless and broke bitcoiners on this forum...
i would say 90% of bitcoiners on this forum own less than 1 BTC and are clueless...

To be honest. Bitcoins.com is a very valuable domain name, especially since Bitcoin's marketcap could reach 100billion+, and it's only 8billion now. So Bitcoins.com selling for even 700k would be seen as cheap a few years from now.


I would say, Bitcoin.org, would be the most expensive bitcoin domain. Probably could fetch 15million, today.

I would guess in the half a million range.

New TLDs are coming out all the time now - which makes having to have a .com less important as consumers become accustomed to irregular domain names.

It'll actually have the opposite effect. Hundreds of domain name extensions are coming out, hundreds. That would give ground to terrible confusion. That in itself, could raise the .com domain name value.

Seriously, no one could remember 20 different domain name extensions like .desert, .coffee, its just too stupid..

I think it will go upto ~1 Million. Half a million is an average, it can go more than that.

True, .com domain names are practically Gold...they're rare and the most common and widely used. Then .org comes after .com in use and commonness, then .net comes after .org in use and rarity, and then the rest of all the domain extensions.

Frankly, all these new Shit domain name extensions coming out makes no sense, No normal human with an IQ under 200, will be able to memorize the 1000's of domain name extensions being created by those domain registrars...I've fricking seen .camera, .soap, .dishwasher., .chores., .teachmehowtodougie  :P

But with BTC.com selling for $1.1 million, any bid is possible in this case.

IMHO, "btc.com" has a better value than "bitcoins.com".
And so I guess (just a wild guess) the bitcoins.com can be sold for slightly less than a million. :)

The price for btc.com was reported as $1.1 million at the beginning, but then it has been updated to be $1 million *only*. :)

Bitcoin is valued at around 8billion marketcap.

1million for a premium domain name is penny change.

The domains is of course worth millions but a startup on bitcoin now would be much harder even on such potential name

I'd much rather have more "Money in the pot" come distribution time and not some domain name. They speak for themselves on this one, and I don't understand their motivations, at all. Maybe their hoping to claim the domain for themselves or something? Weird.

It depends. Even domains that are worth a certain value go for more than double their actual value since the people that are buying it are going to use it for something. And some times domains that are worth a lot go for a very low amount. My guess is more in the range of $100,000 for bitcoins.com. But still, who has so much money to throw into a domain. ;)

In my eyes making a brand is much more important than buying a million dollar domain. Google.com, Yahoo.com, Netflix.com, Amazon.com and many more worth nothing before been chosen for a those brands. And i can't remember on prima-vista any generic word as a big brand.

Yeah it's best to rebuild it with your own product they make an existing product and use the domain. This way you are confident to get all main tld's etc.

But the buyer will get a lot of free traffic by just adding some basic content.

I guess it's worth close to 200k.
Major domains sold for more and less. But this market is quite hard to be honest.

If they had some site with content on it, it would be worth more, since google would have indexed it.
