What causes that hole is that real?

If I understood well, pilot estimated that the crater may be somewhere between 50 to 100 meters across. Remains of nuclear weapon test? Violent burst of natural gas (world's biggest gas reserves are in Yamal peninsula)? Small meteorite?

The title in the movie says Meтeopит, which means Meteorite.
I'm not sure what it is, or even how big it is.

Pilot said that several Mi-8 helicopters could fit in the crater. Which should (roughly) translate to diameter of 50-100 meters.

I think that a Preon star which would have a radius of a couple of Km (and even in meters if you consider a sun like mass) (a neutron star is around 20-30km in radious and Preon is crashing matter beyond neutron degeneracy and reaching the level of preon, which means it is much much denser) would destroy earth and basically the whole solar system if it get close enough, we are almost at blackhole levels of gravity ^^

I've just read that there might be an expedition to that place. It's just 30 km from Bovanenkovo gas field. But geologists are already pretty sure it's a collapsed pingo, periglacial feature created when the ice mound covered by soil and rocks melts out, thus causing ground to collapse.

But some sort of possibly low velocity pressure wave or explosion took that top layer of dirt and rock and threw it back around the hole, causing a sort of buildup in a ring around the hole.  At least that's how it looks.

This was no meteorite, but maybe a giant piece of bubble gum?

Or it could have been the Martian ships planted long ago, drilling their way out and preparing to attack.

http://siberiantimes.com/other/others/features/large-crater-appears-at-the-end-of-the-world/

A spokesman for the ministry's Yamal branch ruled out a meteorite but said it was too early to say what cause the gigantic hole in the earth.

'We can definitely say that it is not a meteorite. No details yet,' said a spokesman.

Anna Kurchatova from Sub-Arctic Scientific Research Centre thinks the crater was formed by a water, salt and gas mixture igniting an underground explosion, the result of global warming. She postulates that gas accumulated in ice mixed with sand beneath the surface, and that this was mixed with salt - some 10,000 years ago this area was a sea.

somebody mentioned natural gas explosion or something like that.

Not here. A similarly warm winter - and a lack of snow - has been reported from many places across Siberia and is a talking point especially among our senior citizens who can give some perspective to the debate. 'I cannot believe my eyes,' said one elderly local in Barnaul. 'This doesn't happen'.

In Novosibirsk, we asked 83 year old Fyodor Olifirenko to compare this winter to others he has known.

'I do not remember such a warm December,' he said. 'In 1963 there was some thaw on December 24-25, it was raining a bit. But by morning all was frozen and after that started strong frosts. But such weather - when it is constantly raining in the middle of December - I see this for the first time'.

hmm...

http://www.examiner.com/article/new-record-low-temperature-for-northern-hemisphere-set-russia-s-siberia

In 1933, the coldest temperature record was set at -90.4°F (-68°C). On February 19th that was apparently shattered in the mist of an extreme event in Oymyakon, Siberia with the reading of -96.1°F (-71.2°C). Wow!

Mother Earth is playing with us.

It is getting silly at this point. Maybe it was global warming that shot down the Malaysian jet today as well.

There were no Soviet nuclear tests in the Yamal peninsula, although some tests were carried out in the Novaya Zemlya islands (a few hundred kilometers to the north-west).

Woah that's so creepy. What if it happens in the middle of the city, it is very dangerous. Earth is becoming increasingly dangerous.

In areas with old mines it happens from time to time.
But usually the holes are not very big.
Like this, in Essen, Germany:

New video. Lot of water on the walls and the bottom, most likely coming from melting ice mixed with the soil. I think geologists who said it's collapsed pingo got it right:
