Title: An Anonymous Bitcoin Board: No Mods, No Masters
Post by: Jon on March 18, 2012, 08:37:02 PM
http://bitkoin.su

If it gets popular, I'll maintain it and add more boards. For now, there will be one Bitcoin board.

Enjoy.

Despite somebody dissing Matthew and making a thread about penises, I will not be deleting them.

No censorship. None.

It's not possible to run a centralized board completely without moderation, since no service provider will support a board that contains text very likely to lead to trouble (specific threats of violence, etc.). And even a decentralized board without moderation requires some sort of web-of-trust system so that it doesn't become useless due to spam.

Unless, of course, there were six anonymous confirmations affirmations by its users prior to a post made public. For this to work, though, the proposed forum would need a critical mass of users, users that would be notified by whatever means that a new thread/post has been submitted. The user would click to read what's pending, then approve the text for submission, provided it meets the guidelines laid out by the forum admin, in this case, Jon.

I have a theory and it may prove to be bunk. We'll see what happens to my board all in good time.

All this is an experiment. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Additionally, http://nearlyfreespeech.net is quite lenient. Any threats will be properly reported to the powers that be.

Theymos is an anarchist and literally only stops postings when they don’t follow one rule or would cost him the forum.
And that’s why he is suited to be an admin.

BUT NOOOOOOOOOO! NO MODS, NO MASTERS! :'(

Even 4chan has mods, you fool.

No censorship. None.

Say that again after someone posts some child pornography photos. You need some kind of censorship in extreme cases

Not possible. I have images turned off. If somebody links to CP, the hosting server will be the perp.

I cite the 1st amendment in respect to displaying the posts while turning over the IPs of the perps.

That may (or may not) work legally, but any domain name registrar or host will shut down your site without a second thought.

So, it's Bitchan? Wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole, boards here are already too antagonistic.

I registered with Russia for a reason. As for nearlyfreespeech.net, again, they only follow US law and that's it.

Changed the default display name from Anonymous to Satoshi.

That's why they call themselves NEARLY free speech.net.

Bear in mind that nearlyfreespeech.net (http://nearlyfreespeech.net), great though it is, doesn't support https. Therefore, it's not viable for your forum in the long-term.

This is great, Jon! I like how the whole forum is all on one page. No more clicking pages--just scroll down.

Should rename the thread to How I got on the sex offenders list.

Yeah, I tried modifying some of the scripts myself. Considering I am just learning Perl, that was bound to lead to a bug. It should be fixed, mostly, now. Tell me if otherwise.

Thanks!

well, that particular URL still fails.

it's linked to from Online Bitcoin Wallets (3) from the main page.

No thread, no problem. Feel free to repost it.

It appears the problem only was a <br> tag. The script didn't like that it wasn't closed. ._.

If they bothered to employ competent admins, they would know how to use SSL properly and avoid such things happening. Only possible attack would be either users not realizing they have been sent to a non-https proxy, or the FBI getting a fake certificate that has a valid root (via coercion or secret subpoena).
