Title: Hardware questions
Post by: TheJason on March 19, 2012, 02:53:41 AM
I know bitcoin mining will significantly decrease your hardware's life, but does anyone know by how much? I currently have a single Radeon 6850 and have mined for about 3-4 months. I don't mine 24/7, but only like 8-12 hours a day. How long will my GPU last? I also use it to play games and plan on buying another 6850 to crossfire for mining/games.

So any thoughts/suggestions?

Make sure your cooling is good, avoid static electricity, prevent dust from accumulating, and if you OC, do so within limits. Luck also plays a factor in any batch of tech.

I've been mining on 18 5830s nearly 24/7 since June 2011 with no hardware problems.

I have been mining on various hardware for almost a year and I concur with Lazer.  Take care of your equipment and it should take care of you.   ;D

PS - no failures yet......goes and knocks on wood.
