Title: [2014-07-17] Google Adds Bitcoin Currency Conversion To Search Post by: erono on July 17, 2014, 02:41:51 AM http://www.forbes.com/sites/amitchowdhry/2014/07/16/google-adds-bitcoin-currency-conversion-to-search/
Bitcoin, the digital currency in which transactions can be made without a central bank, increased in value substantially since it was created in 2008. In 2013, the price of one Bitcoin went from $13 to over $1,100. The value of the currency dropped this year after Bitcoin exchange company Mt. Gox shutdown in February and a false report was published about how the Chinese government banned the digital currency in the country. As of right now, the value of 1 Bitcoin is worth more than $600. Google GOOGL -0.44% has now made it easier to track these fluctuations by adding a Bitcoin tracking tool to its search website. This is a good indicator that Bitcoin is seeping into the subconscious of the general public slowly. I think if google is getting on board, good things can only come of it.

Talk about a great conversation starter for helping accelerate the spread of bitcoin awareness!! Who that you know that isn't familiar with bitcoin doesn't use google as well? I'm betting not very many :p
*Anyway, interesting thing I found that entering '1.27btc=' actually works as well. Well, I thought it was neat anyway. I am just beside myself thinking that Google let Microsoft's Bing beat them to the punch.

And it will save me a lot of time. And they're working with Coinbase, very nice, much better than with some exchange. Title: Re: [2014-07-17] Google Adds Bitcoin Currency Conversion To Search Post by: Giggs on July 17, 2014, 03:15:27 PM I was wondering when they would add this. One more step into the mainstream.

It is a really nice and time saving feature. Thanks for the info. But i would not overestimate its importance for the BTC "mainstreaming".Title: Re: [2014-07-17] Google Adds Bitcoin Currency Conversion To Search Post by: Mr Crabs on July 20, 2014, 05:57:41 PM Wow, that is pretty cool. I think it show bitcoins legitimacy and shows it is here to stay. I wonder if they'll add other currencies.

This is a good indicator that Bitcoin is seeping into the subconscious of the general public slowly. Bit by bit we see bitcoin appearing more.I think it's a good feature, but Google is a bit late with it. Eric Schmidt knew about Bitcoin for a long time, but ignored it for a while... Eitherway, duckduckgo had this feature much earlier Title: Re: [2014-07-17] Google Adds Bitcoin Currency Conversion To Search Post by: ThomasCrowne on July 22, 2014, 09:13:03 AM You know Bitcoin has hit the big-time when Google incorporates automatic price conversion right into their search engine!!!
"Just program it in there fellas!" ;-) |
