Octopus Capital, the venture fund, has led a £1.2m investment into Bitcoin vault Elliptic, in a deal that adds further credibility to the digital currency. Launched just six months ago, Elliptic stores cryptographic “keys” on offline servers for a raft of institutional clients, including hedge funds, law firms and the newly regulated Global Advisors Bitcoin Investment Fund, a Jersey-based organisation that allows insurers and pension funds to invest in Bitcoin.
