Title: Which ones are the most used altcoins in the deep web?
Post by: musician on July 18, 2014, 01:48:41 AM
Never been there and I have no intention to be, but, as it happened with bitcoin, I believe that the altcoins most used in the deep web are the ones that are gonna increase their price significaly due that they have a real use. So can anyone answer me?

Thanks!

If you are referring to SR, SR used bitcoin because it was the most used coin at the time SR was created. Bitcoin is not successful because of SR, but rather, SR was successful because of bitcoin.

Black market wants to use something that easy to hide in.

One of the ways a lot of n00b drug dealers got identified was packaging mistakes, their packages looked different than typical packages sent through the mail system. They were likely to get busted.

Similarly, if you are using some weird coin mainstream isn't using, it's like waving a flag saying "Watch Me"

Deep web, at least the smart ones will use bitcoin because it is not unusual for legitimate people to buy and sell them.

Honestly o beleive that its either bitcoin or litecoin, i dont think drk got mich traction other than being a giant pump coin, so i guess the old timers are still the bigger players.

The Armory on ToR accepted DRK but then pulled it due to being closed source.

DRK is currently undergoing source code review as we speak. Once its open source you can expect the armory + the majority of deep web to re-add it

Lol once it's open source someone will fork it and release it fairly not the instamined crap that happened when darkcoin was released.

Im sure a shitcoin clone will have the infrastructure to support it /sarcasm...DRK has over 700 masternodes now...thats valued at 5+ million USD.

instamine crap is fud..bitcoin was instamined...so was litecoin....try something new??

Trolls definition of instamined: "any coin that was launched before I found out about it"

Yeah, I might use DRK to look cool but not for anything illegal.

The name itself draws too much attention to what it is. Kind of like those script kiddies who put 1337 speak in their usernames on every forum.

You can't rely on the coin being anonymous, there's always the possibility of a bug, you have to handle it as if the transaction could be traced through the blockchain anyway, so might as well use one that doesn't have a name that screams "I'm nefarious"

aren't all those deep web marketplaces dead/DEA pwned now?
Not entirely. It sure doesn't have any sense of security or privacy now, though. There's a dominant new Silk Road and it seems to be doing well enough -- I checked on it yesterday.

BTC is still dominant on dark web. You don't see LTC too often and I haven't seen others at all.
