WOW
Congratulation for so many great ideas how tto promote Bitcoin in the public.
We really need successful promo ideas which can help us to become mainstream.
When merchants start to accepting bitcoin as method of payment we will make breakthrough.

How to win prizes

1. Think of a business that you frequent but doesn't accept bitcoin (online or not)
2. Tell them how bitcoin could benefit them and give relevant real life examples (similar business successes)
3. Post the email you sent here, or write down the conversation if it was real life
4. Sponsors from the forum will randomly pick one winner for EVERY page (can win multiple prizes each page!)
(if no business comes to mind, just hit again one of those already posted)

How to be a sponsor

1. Post what prize you will give once for every page this thread makes
2. I will add your prize and link to your website on the first post
3. Monitor the thread and pick one winner for every page
4. Just quote the one you choose to win and let him know how to claim the prize.

Concept behind this campaign

Here is the thinking behind this campaign in case you have questions about some of the points above, that might answer them

The idea of community which creates its own championes and sponsors is so nice! I think it will make our community sweet and warm. I really want to be a sponsor but for now I'm low on cash :( but I hope that I will be fine before the next campaign.

please ignore bitcoin-hotep AKA finshaggy. he is a bit of a dreamer that has little to add to bitcoin projects, he just wants people to read his posts and watch his video's

but dont worry your not missing anything by ignoring him, i have read every single post he has made on his two username and watched every video on his 2 youtube channels... they lack alot of substance and meander far far off the bitcoin path and deep into the unknown reality which we call imagination and fiction, but he calls it his home.

but hey, the world is open to anyone, if only this forum had a warning on it "may contain nuts" then atleast people can stay away from these type of people that try to make bitcoin look like a place where crackpots waste their time.

if only these ego maniacs put their imaginations to something creative to help bitcoin adoption, rather than basement dwelling out brainfarts of uptopian dreams unrelated to bitcoin.

One is www.thriftbooks.com Main branch is in the US but they ship worldwide.
the other is www.homeshop18.com/books (homeshop18 book section). I didn't use that shop for anything but books so I guess it would make the best influence to contact the department I been involved with.

Hmm, so it has to be a real business? What about e.g. a community or a service running on donation/pledges who was only accepting like PayPal or credit cards before?

Anyways - Here's what I have have to offer (start reading at the bottom!);

http://s14.directupload.net/images/140725/xh9lqvbe.jpg

Basically an example how to turn a (quite random) newsletter into a BTC-pledge-enabling request.
One of my first attempts doing so and I think for that the result was pretty ok-ish... :)

10 Bitcoin Postage Stamps

www.honeybadgerofmoney.com.  Its my profession to spread awareness and adoption through attending local meetup events, selling merchandise, reaching out to local businesses that I frequent.  (last place was @pho.com which is a great restaurant)  Came by in person and followed up about a prior conversation I had a with them a few months ago.  I also offer the Skyhook tabletop ATM for sale as well.  I'm glad to see these efforts are here and would like to also participate.

I told my dad that he should accept BTC as payment for his business (he has a small office) and he told me that he doesn't want to accept something that acts as a stock as a method of payment. I cant convince him. The volatility makes him see it as something that isn't a currency.

Why nobody is posting an actual entry for the contest? People hate free money now?

FWIW I love free money  ;D

Also I think getting this post out there is part of the challenge of participation - its one thread amongst many many different websites that consumers use for BTC news - I could simply sit on twitter most days and could get the same quality of fix that I could from reddit or letstalkbitcoin.com

Hmmm interesting. This plan sounds almost like a Ponzi, but isn't one :D :D It rewards people for bringing in new ones. But those people trying to bring in new ones don't have to put down money to be in the game. An interesting idea!

Title: Re: remove
Post by: whitegrey on July 31, 2014, 01:24:29 AM
Not a "business" again (I guess, even tho some organizations behave like businesses or companies) but I think this sector is also very important; Because it's basically for doing good things with Bitcoin... And maybe this will get the whole topic into a direction that lets us forget part of all the 'illegal' stuff Bitcoin is still associated with (and some of this image will stay there forever as Bitcoin still is without a doubt - let's just speak the truth here - a tool or opportunity for fraud, ponzi, money laundering and stuff)... What I mean ist; Charity, crowd-funding, personal support of people in need and so on... So it's not a business or at least it shouldn't be, but well - I pesronally rather focus on that one, because that is what I feel is right for me :)

The good thing with this is that these projects or organizations can often be found on social media or on the webs in general - especially if they want to fund something or if they want to reach out for a bigger 'audience'... So it's not that difficult to contact them in first place (like it might be the case with mainly local business & shops, having their established market, maybe don't even remotely thinking of expanding or maybe don't even have a homepage yet)...

Example -> floodings in Slovenia earlier this year, via facebook;

http://s14.directupload.net/images/140731/ncxm6bs5.png

My credo doing so; Always be positive and friendly - don't force it on anybody; Tell them why it is a good option - and show them how fast it works (the blockchain is the best proof)!

I have one or two other examples I guess (with bands and crowd-funding e.g.) but I have to dig out the screenshots first...

In my neighbourhood there are about 1000 small businesses that would love to claim independence from the €uro and from their banks who are seen as tools of the main government (the region is also trying to gain independence for years ; its Catalunya in Spain).
Anyway, I'm positive my area could be a micro btc commerce hub where most of those businesses would be up for adoption. I was thinking of printing leaflets and dropping them into each place door to door over the course of few weeks. Trouble is i cant afford to print anything like that, and most business owners would not put the effort in to doing their own research if they just got an email with a link tbh, business here is best done face to face and explaining it every time would take forever, id need to be able to leave reading material.

Is imagine btc would thrive in places seeking independence,  like Catalunya , Scotland, tibet, chechnya, bask, wales, tamil, kurdistan...

Anyway, if anyone is interested in sponsoring this venture is be happy to post results here, or if anyone is in the Gracia area of Barcelona and want to talk about this idea let me know!

k so radio shack and suntech power holdings are the two that I have money invested in and would be really cool if they would accept my bitcoin donations or start taking payment for products via bitcoin. Both companies have been experiencing some bad luck recently and I think this might just be the kicker to turn up the heat on the frosty company's commerce.

I really just want to see these companies do well the solar company for its green aspects and radio shack for the good faith ive had toward them in dark times. I did mail both of these companies letters but have not received anything in return, the letter simply asks for the company to reach out to possible resources like bitcoin ie bitcoin and start accepting donations at the very least. It was nothing extravagant, rather concise actually but not sure if they who matter saw them or not.

So to RadioShack and Suntech Power go for the bitcoin ;D

There is enough free porn on the internet that I would seriously doubt that people would want to buy amateur porn in large numbers (although everyone does have their own fetish).

Free porn is not quality porn my friend. And it's not made just for you, these girls are real and you can have them say your name during a vid or whatever you'd like.

It would be cool if we could do a CPR on this thread (after the BTC-girls spam [no offense]) :)

Not a 'real' achievement as they've accepted Bitcoin already - but I wanted to point out to them that they could make it more obvious or better known that they actually do so... facebook is always a good way to do so for example.

They take direct action in supporting Nepal after the earthquake (not only with that, also with schools for kids and stuff) - you might want to send them a small tip if you want to! I did already and it feels good ;)
