Title: 5850 mining at 290MH/s with phoenix 1.3 miner. How to speed up? Post by: chungenhung on May 02, 2011, 02:08:01 AM Running Win 7 x64, with 11.4 catalyst, and the default SPP that came with it.
GPU 830MHz, Memory 900MHz. My settings on the miner: Start /DD:\phoenix-1.3 phoenix -u http://xxx@xxx.com_3:xxxx@deepbit.net:8332/ -k poclbm DEVICE=0 VECTORS BFI_INT AGGRESSION=7 Changing the Aggression anything higher than 7 doesn't make any difference for me. What changes do you guys suggest for a 5850 to get higher hash rates? I've seen people running 5830 over 300MH/s, and 5830 has far fewer shaders. Post by: slurch on May 02, 2011, 02:10:28 AM I'm no expert on the 5850, but I'd venture to say that version of Catalyst is killing you. Try to downgrade to 10.11 or below. Also, you are most likely using ATI Stream SDK 2.4...2.1 or 2.2 seem to have the best results. I might recommend using a tool like MSI Afterburner to reduce your Memory Clock speed, as well...and maybe bumping that Core Clock up a bit. Other than that, it sounds like you're on the right track. :)

Can't up the core any higher, it will crash. Unfortunately, my card does not allow me to increase voltage, and it is NOT a reference design card. Update to Phoenix 1.4, there is a bug with RPC reconnecting to LP enabled servers in 1.3 2. I have a 5830 under similar conditions (Win7 x64 + 11.3 + SDK 2.2) and it gets 291 Mhash/sec overclocked to 980Mhz. 3. With AGGRESSION=7 you might try adding FASTLOOP to your command line. Note that this is actually bad if you decide to increase the AGGRESSION to 9 or higher. 4. Most of the users who are getting higher rates have their cards overclocked above 900MHz core. I am also on a Win7 64-bit OS, and I'm one of those you mentioned with the 5830's...downgrade to 10.7, get your SDK down to 2.1, and give your OC another shot. :) Let me know how it turns out.
