Title: Poll: Bitcoin Demographics Highest Education Level
Post by: abercrombie on July 19, 2014, 04:05:33 PM
Just wanted to see how a mostly Western audience compared to BTC-e (China) survey conducted in 2013.  I'm going to add "trade school" and "undergrad or some college" to the list.

National average is 27% for those holding a university degree.  Approximate BTC-e China results for highest level of education out of 44k participants:

75% University Degree
16% Masters Degree
03% PhD or higher
07% High School
02% Middle School

I would answer 'High School' but I can't figure out how to vote in the poll.
I'll let the reader decide whether I'm joking or not.

you can't vote, you need more activity points.

Newbies can't vote.

So far it looks similar to the standard education curve
Undergrad and University levels right now take the list and then some early adopters in Middle and High School who know a lot about technology
It will be interesting to see how this chart fills out.

(wonder if a polytechnic is some college or a trade school)

What purpose does this serve other than to fuel snobbery? Qualifications are not necessarily an indication of intelligence. And I bet a lot of those surveyed lied  :D.

High school for me. :)

Just a side note; many of the people involved in the dot-com crash had degrees. And the bankers, etc. who were responsible for the 2008 recession also had degrees. So the fact that intelligent people who hold degrees comprise a significant proportion of the Bitcoin community doesn't necessarily mean that Bitcoin as a whole will translate to a success (although it certainly helps).

I would answer 'High School' but I can't figure out how to vote in the poll.

I'm not sure how else to explain the lack of sophistication in the abuse which is rife in many threads of this forum!  ;D
