Title: Physical Coins - Need Help
Post by: GonzoBTC on July 22, 2014, 08:51:16 AM
Hi,
I am considering buying a physical BTC, but I want some advice first.
I have looked at a few and two jump out at me, Microsouol and Titan.
My questions are:
1.   How secure is this?
2.   How do I know who I am paying?
3.   These Microsoul coins, the guy makes them at home right? So how do I know if he is deleting Private Keys?
4.   Do I not have to provide any identification?
I want to buy some but seems that I need help understanding the above first.
Anyone have any experience?
Thanks

There is no way to make sure she is deleting the private keys. It is a general problem. You have to trust the reputation

Only experience I have was with purchasing Casacius series coins.  A couple of 2012's and several 2013's.  Unfortunately I ended up redeeming most of them to upgrade my BFL asic's (lmao in hindsight or I'd be crying right now).  Never had any issue(s) with his coin(s) not having the funds they are supposed to.

You can only be sure if you're supplying a public key that's being printed on coins. But the private key should remain in your possession. You have to take care of it yourself. Never release it!

There are some where you supply your own key or kits that you put together, i would suggest that if i were you.

Do you supply your public key or also the private key. If you also supply the private key it doesn't really matter who created it, the person manufacturing the coins will then have access to your BTC!
