If Bitcoin becomes the world's dominant currency by 2020 and most of the world's population keeps their cash savings in Bitcoin, then most of the world's computing power will go into Bitcoin mining. Not only that, most of the world's electricity will go into Bitcoin mining. The total computing power will continue halving every 4 years but it would take until 2030-2040 until Bitcoin mining is no longer the world's biggest consumer of computing power and electricity. |
