It's getting tiresome to signup for each and every coin on your pool.

The premine was explained in the OP.  The coins will be used for bounties for merchants.  We chose to do this -- which we can accomplish with a premine of less than 2% -- as opposed to the alternative that others use, which is 50% premine plus "air drop".

No air drop.  Evidence has shown that they don't work.

We are instead recruiting merchants, which we believe we can do at a far lower expense.  Thus we are able to have a 1.9% premine instead of the 50% premine common among other location-based coins.

I haven't had time to take a look at where the hash is coming from and who's finding blocks.

We are not mining at all right now, though will probably rent a rig or 2 soon.

It's a rare coin, so a small reward in terms of numbers is expected.

But the value of those coins will be high.

It seems like he is actually using the premine for the bounties, so I am OK with it.  I do not like the devs who use like 1% of the premine for bounties.

You should write an algorithm that adjusts the number of coins to the population of Texas as it fluctuates. Think of the excitement that kind of innovation would induce...

I'm got 25 TEX each for the next 10 people to PM me with your TEX Coin address.

Don't post in the thread, just send a PM.  I'll edit this message when the offer's done, so if you are seeing this, it's still available!

Use the nodes in the OP and you should be able to sync. We had trouble at first too, but added the nodes and sync'd right up. Or you could always just come mine with ipoMiner.. the #1 TEX pool right now by blocks :)

texascoin.conf sounds right. I can't help much more as far as Windows/Mac/QT go, we build from source and run on the commandline for the pool. Hopefully the devs have an idea for you.

Try deleting the QT folder, plus the texascoin folder under Appdata.

Run the .exe again, then place the conf file in the texascoin folder under Appdata (you delete this earlier, but it will be recreated.)

If you still get the same error, please PM me and let me know which version of Windows you are running.

Thanks,
Big Tex

As it says in the OP:

Total Coins:  26,300,000
Blocks 1-10:  Premine
Blocks 11-10,000:  30 TEX
Blocks 10,001-110,000:  15 TEX
Blocks 110,001-1,110,000:  4 TEX
Blocks 1,110,001-11,110,000: 2 TEX
Premine: 1.9%

1.9% premine of 26,300,000 = 499,700

9,990 blocks at block reward 30 TEX = 299,700

The next 13,333 blocks at reward 15 TEX = ~ 200,000

The premine equates to 23,323 POW blocks which will take just over 16 days of mining to reach.

Use your heads people...

The vast majority of the premine will be used to recruit merchants.  This will greatly increase the value of the coin and lead to wider distribution.

Really only way this coin is going to get on an exchange is if a larger amount of people mine this coin...miners are dropping fast. Might be able to save this coin by initiating a proof of burn on half of the premine.

Fucking scam, DEV DELETES MY POSTS.

After a week there wil be about 10 000 blocks * 30 = 300 000 coins. Premine is 1.9% of 26300000 = 500 000 COINS

And that's why there are no transparent premine address and the dev is going to promote this coin to the bittrex as soon as possible.

Big fan, mining at IPOMiner right now.

You might want to add the DNSSeeds next time you release.  Its doubled up here so I am not sure what to think of that.

https://github.com/texascoin/TexasCoin/blob/master/src/net.cpp#L1195 (https://github.com/texascoin/TexasCoin/blob/master/src/net.cpp#L1195)

Also the premine is 500,000; with PoS starting your coin count will be roughly 5 million, that will change your 2% Premine to a 10%.  I Trust Texas and I have my own block explorer.

Good Luck!

I really find the approach of not going into exchanges for a first periode of time quite nice. What was the advantage for those coins, that went pumped and dumped before they could have been emerging with  some adoption or features. I am not shure how this will play out, but it is better than no new approach to that problem. I am looking forward to find out.

dead or not, I am currendly having great fun mining it by just using the wallet. It makes about 15 Texas per hour. And taking accout, that I have always 6 or more peer connections, wich is unusual for such a low networkhashrate, i would assume, that I am not the only one. Because this is a great opportunity for beginners to experience some kind of "retro-bitcoin-feeling" i will now give a short description on how to do it and ask the "pro's" to restrict themself not to instamine this one (for now it has zero value anyway). I am sure our market would highly benefit, having more newbie-opportunitis like that.

here it goes (I tryed to take in account all things that could go wrong for a newbie and hope its bulletproof):

1) install the walletsoftware
2) start it and then close it again
3) go to the datadirectory (on Windows something like /user/yourname/APPdata .../texascoin )
4) create a textfile in that directory named texascoin.conf
5) put following into the textflile:

Code:
rpcuser=CHOOSEaNAME
rpcpassword=CHOOSEaPASSWORD
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1,*
rpcport=21034
port=11034
gen=0
server=1
listen=true
genproclimit=-1
addnode 128.199.165.180:11034
addnode 188.226.248.45:11034

6) open the wallet again an wait untill it (important) finished syncing (see on the right bottom corner)
7) close the wallet and open the textfile again
8) change gen=0 to gen=1
9) open the wallet again and encrypt it via the settings menu (the wallet will have to restart) choosing YOUR-ENCRYPTION-PASSWORD
10) go to "help" and open the debugwindow, then choose the "Konsole" tab
11) now enter "walletpassphrase YOUR-ENCRYPTION-PASSWORD 999999" and press enter
10) now enter "setgenerate true -1"
11) after a minute control your success by typing getmininginfo
12) if you type "help" you get a bunch of funny commands to play around with

have fun  ;D
if you have questions, ask here, I am monitoring the thread
(@DEV guess who's job I am doing here)

everybody else (blogger, writer, boardmembers ... ): spread this article outside the Crypto Community, so that new users can try this

.

 Hey Texas friends, hello from New England region.

If some old members of Texas coin want to revive this old regional coin, I am offering you an exchange listing at
ShorelineCrypto exchange at very low price, 0.01 BTC or  well below 0.005 BTC equivalent if the payment is paid on NewEnglandcoin (NENG) exclusively. Checkout
our other regional coin listing:
NewEnglandcoin (NENG) :  https://shorelinecrypto.com/market/DOGE-NENG
Quebecoin (QBC): https://shorelinecrypto.com/market/DOGE-QBC

I am aware that there was some dispute on old dev large pre-mine. I am not too worried about that. The old dev is likely long gone and sold out. The
trading price is going to be very low initially and can be low and gradually going higher as trading price and market will re-distribute coins across different supporters.

As long as some old members still have old coins and blockchain to sync wallet, this coin can be reborn.
