Escrow is process which a trusted person hold your coin when your seller ship/send you his merchant.

In case of non-delivery or scam, you have the right to request money back from the escrower.

Bitstamp is a bitcoin exchange located in Euro zone.

Escrow is a trusted person who can be used for secure transactions, I recommend esrow.ms in this forum
but there are also some websites which offer this service.

Bitstamp is one of the biggest exchanges at the moment.

The seller may deliver the thing to the escrower, so he verify if its ok and forward to the owner. Its a warranty that the seller won't send the good outside the especifications, or the seller try to scam saying that the delivered stuff was outside of specifications. Always happens in case of digital goods.

Bitstamp is the reference for bitcoin price since the downfall of Mt Gox, the main Western bitcoin exchange, as far I know.

If you are trying to buy some sort of goods or services from people who doesn't accept escrows, just stay away from them.
Escrow fees are really low and therefore escrows should be used in every transaction with someone you don't know personally.

Is just a third party to guarantee you don't get scammed (unless this third party is a scammer too)

Escrow is like a man in the middle of a trade. In case you want to buy a product, send the money -- it could be that the company is a scam and doesn't send you the product. An escrow prevents this situation, but you need a trusted escrow.

Bitstamp is a bitcoin exchange, where you can trade btc for other coins, such as usd, ltc... and etc

Yup, you will have to ensure that this third party is not a scammer (has to be 'trusted').
When ethereum finally gets off the ground, you might not need escrows.

Is it really? It says that Bitfinex is based in Asia, but everyone is claiming in reality it's being run from some suburb in France. I guess it's important to have an address that looks trustworthy or lies in a jurisdiction that facilitates your dealings in bitcoin.

I am not really sure, I just find it on the Bitstamp homepage. But people in that region should be able to visit the address and verify if it is the true address. :)

Well they could just have some post box or small office space rented for that purpose. It doesn't necessarily say a lot about the actual residence of the company.

I think the owners are from Slovenia, but now the exchange is based on UK for some unknown reason.

And one more thing you have to remember is that escrows are good thing to use if you have any doubt about trade or any other activity you are doing so somebody is at risk. Feel free to ask me for escrow also, i'm ready to make it for free if you need anything.
