That's because his creation is in fact very anti-bank and freedom oriented. That kind of mindset is very strong in some European countries (stronger than in the US, UK or Japan).
His English is very good, so I would assume that he is not from southern Europe. Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Netherlands, and Germany would be the most realistic countries in terms of both language and mindset. ya.ya.yo! He did also use the phrase "bloody hard" in one of his posts which is not a typical American phrase. Doesn't mean that he's British though.
