Title: low Mining profit ~
Post by: Xenno on July 26, 2014, 01:01:03 PM

Hello everyone. I am new to mining and have a few questions.

I have recently put my PC towards mining.

Stats are  ~

Processor Intel® Core™ i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3401 Mhz, 4 Core

Physical Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 ( 2 cards )

I feel like I have a pretty good machine, its not meant to be a mining champion or anything, but I wanted to mine coins with it hoping to make a buck or two.  Yet when I am leaving it to work for overnight or during the day, it only makes few cents.. Currently using coinking.io for pool. Ive tried several different script coins and all have same extreme-low income ( Ex. Doge, RZR ) . I have yet to make more than ~5 cents in 12 hours of work, on any coin ???. Im trying to understand what I can do to receive more profit, because my electricity this month went up 20$ and I did not even mine 1$ of coins.. My machine is putting in a lot of work for very weak rewards. How to make more money for the electricity im using ?  It doesn't make sense to me that I'm losing money rather than making at least a bit, my machine put in a lot of work this month and I have less than a dollar ?

Your help and feedback is honestly appreciated.

don't mine scrypt coin... first nvidia has never been a scrypt champion (even though the last version of cudaminer were pretty good) but now there are asics... go to other kind of coin x11 or else...

Try the profit calc in my signature to get an idea of what's the most profitable. Ok, it still depends on how well you can trade, but the ratio's should be the same :D
CoinKing is having issues, it's better to avoid that pool for the time being. My profit calc also holds data from poolpicker.eu and cryp.today, so you can also use it to look at the historic payouts for different pools and algo's.

Also, DONT DO SCRYPT WITH GPUs. That time's over ;) Scrypt is the playground of ASICs now, your GPUs won't be able to compete. Mine something else like X11 or CryptoNight.

@DJM: Well, latest cudaminer was fine, but the 750ti was thé revelation. Best hashrate/wattage/initial cost ratios for a gpu, and still is ;)
