There are a lot academic papers or textbooks about fiat or stock exhanges. Are there any courses or papers about cryptocurrencies exchange? What is the conceptual difference between for example poloniex and New York Stock Exchange?

What is the conceptual difference between for example poloniex and New York Stock Exchange? the exchanges are loosely based on 'stock exchanges' but you have none of the protection you would on a normal exchange. coins are nothing like stocks. you cannot short them for instance. wallets fail and you can lose all money without warning. if you ask basic questions people can help answer them. please be very cautious before putting your money into crypto trading.
