Just more memory intensive then regular scrypt. Did I miss something important here? I get that it's faster on GPU / CPUS then current scrypt implementations would be, but honestly all of the coins posted so far are next to worthless in the long run.

Its what Scrypt should have been. Obviously Scrypt was good for when it was created. But this is a more modern approach that will allow coins to become ASIC resistant again. At least for now.
I've read the white paper its very good. And should be available soon. reading further, it sounds like this is a reduced memory version of Scrypt Jane. that is to say, the scratchpad size in bytes is halved. we'll see when it s all said and done whether this is anything new.
