Title: [JOB] Altcoin Developer
Post by: usagi on July 26, 2014, 10:28:16 PM
Hello.

I'd like to create my own altcoin. I have a few specific ideas for what I want to do, but I do not mind if you copy an existing coin (almost any coin will do).

I am a coder myself, so I will have oversight on the project, said hired developers however will be doing all the "real" work.

I don't mind paying in bounty or cash. Yes I said cash. Which in this case will be bitcoin.

Send me a proposal including what you want in terms of pay, between $1,000 and $5,000. If you can complete the objectives below, and (important) any other ideas you might have for the coin. Here are my essential requirements for the job:

Basics:
1. Command line and GUI client for windows, mac and linux. Command line only is okay too, but more money for GUI obviously.
2. Custom algorithm which will be "security by obscurity" to help the GPU miners, until hashrate passes a certain threshold or at least for the first little while. We'll do what we can.
3. An exchange which is willing to host the coin for at least a year. Must be a reasonably active exchange, please.
4. A pool or two who can commit to hosting the coin at no more than 3%, for at least one year.
5. Ability to premine a significant number of coins (not to scam; it will be disclosed; but to start a foundation for the coin).

As you can see the basic setup is relatively straightforward. The magic will come in how I trade and manage the coin. I'm very open to suggestions and info on things I would need to be aware of as someone in charge of the codebase for a coin.

I look forward to any offers!

I don't get why you want a "significant premine" when you have that kind of cash ready to throw to the project.

Pools is never a problem when your coin is interesting.

I would avoid those services that tell you that they can create a coin for you, of course they can but then it will be just copy and paste, so create your own coin.

Sometimes taking over a coin is much better then starting a new coin, as a lot of coins never hit a exchange.

We are currently looking for some people to take over Icebergcoin, so please have a look.

Not sure if the comment above was aimed at my coin creation service.

We've made more than 25 coins and they're not identical. You wont find any similarities in the src.

Now, regarding ICB. Let it die. It was a scam and it'll remain a scam. I'm bagholding it as well.

No, it was not a comment on your coin creation service, i even didn't check it, how was that site called coinex.io or something like that, where you can have a coin for 0.05BTC and people start to create all kind of coins and suddenly there were 100 new coins introduced in a few weeks, happened a few months ago, after that i even didn't check the site anymore.

Wouldn't this thread belong in the marketplace subforum? This isn't very appropiate as an announcement of an alt-coin imo, you will get a lot of relevant replies in the other forum.

Shouldn't you be paying in NXT or BTC rather than USD?

The question that we all need to ask is, if a person is unable to create his own coin, how will he be able to add new feature to his coin? I would say, join a existing team and don't think about creating your own coin.
