Lowering the memory clockspeed means the GPU will draw less power, and run cooler.  It may also be possible to overclock the core speed slightly further due to those effects.

In some cases, lowering the memory clock speed causes a direct increase in hashing speed, in others it will lower the hashing speed, so a little experimenting on a card by card basis can improve your hashing speed and/or mHash/watt ratio.

ahh i see.
well i downloaded msi afterburner and i have two 6990s
so i can only lower the memclock to 675 and theres no difference in mhash rate.
thanks ill play around with it.
