Post by: devthedev on July 30, 2014, 12:03:55 AM
Hey everyone, I'm looking to purchase a Trezor. If you have an extra you're willing to sell let me know!

Thanks.

Layman's Terms: Why are you looking to purchase a Trezor?
Just wondering if you found a reason for buying one that I couldn't see.  :P

A Trezor is beautiful inside and out. I believe it's a great innovation and I'd like to get my hands on one.

Novelty, ease of use, security, project backing.

IMO you should just wait for SatoshiLabs to open their shop to the public. It might be cheaper then 2nd hand 1st edition and the profits go to developers.

Can't a paper wallet achieve the same, but without the "novelty" aspect?

It takes time to import the private key. Then the private key's exposed to the internet.

But by then, wouldn't you already have the funds and you can just move it to where ever you like?  Of course, trezor is the SAFEST, but I'm not sure if it was worth $600 USD +.  I'm just waiting for them to release it to the public at a cheaper price. ::)

I have a deal pending for one at .55. It'll be nice to have the accessibility of a hot wallet with the security of a cold wallet.

No problem if you just want a BTC Trezor use the Xapo.com Wallet

Xapo android wallet - security depends on full Android stack + trust of manufacturer (all normal phones uses closedsource drivers).

Xapo vault - you don't own private keys = you don't own your bitcoins.

Trezor - you're sole owner of your bitcoins.

Trezor was never officially sold for $600. Price of preorder has been originally set to 1 BTC at exchange rate ~$100/BTC. Price in eshop will be around the same $.
