Title: Where to invest?
Post by: KriszDev on July 30, 2014, 09:20:59 AM
Hello everybody!

I just thinking of investing my btc into something. Where are you guys investing your coin? Is it worth to invest in mining at cex.io or any other site?

definitely not CEX.io - you will never see a return on BTC there
Have a look on the likes of btc.jam, but there have been a series of scammers borrowing BTC there and defaulting.

Apparently those have a really small interest and still involve risk. I wouln't invest on a loan.

Your best bet is to check out IPOs for securities. But hodling bitcoin is still going to be your best option

I also think you should just go and put your BTC in a cold wallet. It's much safer. The chances of getting scammed or seeing a negative return on your investment are simply too high in my opinion!

Don't invest your btc but just put them into a cold storage wallet and hold them.
If you want you could use a little percent of your btc to have fun trading the bubbles once every 1-2 years.

Invest in some promising altcoin then wain for it to jump or try to invest in some coin that will come to market and it will jump or it wont in 1 week period.

This method can give you some btc or you can loose some this is always a gamble. Read something about it first then invest.

It's an incredible gamble. If you want my advice (but make up your own mind!), stay away from speculating with altcoins. People pump and dump them repeatedly and most of them are only there for the sake of being pump/dumped. It's a dangerous gamble!

Currently i'm not investing my BTC, only hodling it :D
I wouldn't invest on cex.io cause i heard they're charging a lot on fees.
But if you wanna try, there are many option, like cloudmining, gambling site, IPO, and ICO.

I chucked the equivalent of 0.1 BTC at a couple of IPOS which have paid off. Other than that I don't believe there's one single 'investment' worth trusting and there won't be for a long time yet.

As already said so many times, just hold on to your bitcoins. "Investing" in the crypto world is a slippery slope.

Yeah, Bitcoin already is a high-risk investment vehicle. This is like setting up a ladder on the roof of this already risky vehicle.

Just buy 1-2 bitcoin and hope it will hit 1M one day.

Just don't invest in mining. If you want to lend coins, you can do it at some places like Bitfinex or BTCJam (I don't know much about these services, though.)
If you want to invest in altcoins, I think it's best to invest in them extra carefully and possibly in the coins which have technical improvement (Darkcoin for example doesn't qualify for this, even though people usually think 'darksend' is something new.)

You know how to end up with $1 million?

Start with $10 million and invest in altcoins!

True. Sometimes u need to gamble in order to achieve promising result.
Like in real life this is all let say roulette, sometimes u win sometimes u loose this is only my opinion.

I take this risk for now and 50% of that gamble I won. For me this is good.

There are lot wat to invest, this some i know
-Mining / Cloud mining (you need calculate carefully, how many days to break even)
-Be the bankroll of gambling site (if gambler lost, you got some money. But, if gambler win, you lose your money)
-Lend your BTC with interest (you need be careful before lend you BTC)
-IPO/ICO (i don't know much about it)
-Play gambling (very risky !)

This time i'm only invest my BTC in cloud mining

Don't invest! Bitcoin is very risky itself already! Just put your BTC in a cold paper wallet and wait for the rocket to begin its trip to the moon. You may lose all your BTC on the way up there otherwise!

Can you provide more details on why DarkSend isn't something new?

This can't be said enough.  Buy BTC.  Hodl.

Man, I guess just put your coins in cold storage, really. Everyone is just trying to scam people, it totally sucks big time! I'm lucky I'm still a BitcoinMillionaire! People try to scam me all the time. Maybe I'll be waiting for the next bubble though and go long on leverage... like 15:1 or something. Wanna be a BitcoinBillionaire!

You can lend to short sellers on various sites. On Bitfinex you will currently get only 1.5% pa but others offer more eg https://www.btcdelta.com/products are offering 5% and Huobi's Hong Kong spin-off is offering 7%.

Obviously the risk is some kind of exchange default and total loss of capital. Personally at those rates I wouldn't bother.

You know you have to change your name by then, right?

Also OP, DON'T "INVEST"! HODL YOUR BITCOINS TIGHT!

If you want solid long term investment buy some Moneros on Poloniex.

https://poloniex.com/exchange/btc_xmr

They will never be so cheap as now again.

Nah! Don't do it! Bitcoin already is a highly risky vehicle. Investing somewhere is usually just destroying your coins. Most of the IPOs these days are completely half-baked at best and will never even give you back anything near your initial investment! Some say ASICMiner may make a comeback, but always be careful and make up your own mind!!!

Having possession of the private key to your wallet is the investment. Else, you are simply gambling.

Oh no, please don't invest in some mining contract! You most likely won't achieve a positive ROI on that. You'll just lose coins by doing that. cex.io is supposed to be overpriced, and their mining gear supposedly is mining at GHash.IO who got 51% of the whole network before!

Unless you already have more than enough BTC, I would just suggest purchasing it (as cheaply as possible), and then hold onto it.  If you spend some, at least replace the same amount of BTC afterwards.

Holding BTC is enough risk for your portfolio...you don't really need to add another layer by investing that BTC into another BTC company (or person), hence layering the risk even further

If you think that LTC will be a good investment in the future, then it is an even better investment now since the price has been going pretty much straight down for the last few months...

All altcoin are in down cuz they follow btc.
When btc jump in price all coin jump in price, that how is done.

So basically if u invest in one altcoin u can get more if btc price jump.

It may not be the worst advice as after this dump LTC will get probably pumped again in short time...i think that 4.0-4.8 is the bottom for now, but yeah it will probably die sooner or later.
