Title: Bitcoin "Shortener"
Post by: lulzplzkthx on May 04, 2011, 01:34:34 AM
Shortener is in quotes because as of right now, it's not so short... more user-friendly.

The current MAIN REASON for it is that this is EASIER TO REMEMBER.

The idea is to become a service somewhat like bit.ly or tinyurl.com but for Bitcoin addresses. As of right now it simply converts to an address, but as soon as URI support is added into the Bitcoin client, it will redirect to one (and you will be given options when creating an address such as amount in Bitcoins to send.)

The idea is up and working, but the domain isn't short. If you'd like to donate, just donate to https://lulzplzkthx.com/s/lulzyk (https://lulzplzkthx.com/s/lulzyk), and if I get enough donations, I should be able to buy a shorter domain, which would be very nice.

Check it out here: https://lulzplzkthx.com/s/ (http://whoami.darchoods.net/s/).

Also, if you have any ideas for features, etc. please let me know. For example, I'm considering allowing custom IDs.

Heh. I love QR codes, but for me it's quicker to write down a six character code and append it to an easy URL address later. (Or even just remember those six letters.)

This is what people need!  Even if it was all numbers, you should make it like a phone number!

"Yeah just bitcoin me at bitcoin.me/555-5523 sorta thing. this way at least you wouldnt forget the number if someone told you! Great work :)
