Title: Multiple 5850 GPU setup, 2nd card no BFI_INT support???
Post by: chungenhung on May 04, 2011, 02:00:55 AM
Just installed a second 5850 card.
Running Win7 x64, 11.4 driver, phoenix 1.4 miner with poclbm kernel.

When using the BFI_INT flag, it says unable to activate support for BFI_INT, make sure that my card support it.
I am 100% sure the card supports BFI_INT, as it is a 5850 card!
The first card, which is an identical card as the second, runs BFI_INT without any problems.

Help please, thanks

I can see 2 possible issues here:

1. From your other thread - The GPU might not be visible to OpenCL and this will obviously cause the patching to fail.

2. One of the devices you selected is the CPU, which is either device 0 (on SDK 2.3 and older) or the last device on 2.4.

Any solution to this?  I have the same problem.

I had this problem on Windows. It turns out that I'd 'attached' the wrong output on the screen properties page. I'd 'attached' 3 and 5 of the 6 outputs, but it should have been 2 and 3. The monitor was already on 1.

Video card one outputs on 1 and 1+x (where x = number of cards)
Video card two outputs on 2 and 2+x
Etc

For 2 cards, 'attach' output 2 (or 4) on properties if monitor is on output 1.

I just figured it out.  I had to have a monitor hooked up to the second card for the miner to see it.  I also updated the driver one version and rebooted [even though it didn't ask me too] and all is well.  Only problem is that the 6970 is on top of the 5850 and way too close so the FAN has to run at 100% to keep the temp down to 78C.  I will take a break, shutdown the system, and swap slots since clearly the 5850 runs cooler.  I would rather stress that card anyway.

You don't need a 2nd monitor or connection if you use a VGA dummy plug: http://www.geeks3d.com/20091230/vga-hack-how-to-make-a-vga-dummy-plug/ (http://www.geeks3d.com/20091230/vga-hack-how-to-make-a-vga-dummy-plug/)
