Title: November is the new August
Post by: wobber on July 31, 2014, 08:55:01 AM
Remember the people that said "bubble" in July? They moved to August when July ended. Now they think November will bring price increase. Somehow, all good news moved price down it seems. Argentina just defaulted, big economic event in the world. Also ebola made more casualties this year than in the last 25 years. If they fail to contain the virus, we'll see polynomial growth of victim numbers and the world could be devastated as no cure exists for ebola.

Then the world economy will turn shitty. Nobody would really care about bitocin for a while.

At least nobody can print more bitcoins or stop Bitcoin. Before a big economy breakdown people will benefit from using Bitcoin because it for example costs less.

Sooner or later one of these bubble predictions will come true ...I hope so!

Argentina is all indifference.  Argentina is the only country in the world, as far as I know, that has a "Museum of Debt", an entire museum on the Argentines bailing from their debt obligations going all the way back to the colonial era... ironically, the Museum itself incurred a debt issue and the owner had to sell!   :D

News that would be positive would maybe be Russia or India doing a 180 on Bitcoin policy

Neither Argentina default nor ebola will have any effect on bitcoin. These are totally baseless speculations that lack rational thinking.

If world economy will turn shitty, why would nobody really care about bitcoin? In fact I think people are more likely to experiment with alternative solutions if the current economic order breaks apart.

ya.ya.yo!

I thought initially that the thread title implied that the Bubble would now be scheduled for November instead of August ;) We'll see.
To be honest, I don't think Ebola is a threat for Bitcoin, there's not much money flowing around in those areas. Even worse, it is a threat for people. We should give a damn about BTC and the potential growth there, as long as there are people dying! That's vastly more important!

How can a bubble be "scheduled"?  I mean what was the basis for a july/august bubble in the first place?

This month will be just as quiet as last month as all news, both negative and positive are already out.

noob question: is this delay normal?

Well, to be honest... No one knows if there even will be a bubble. I mean, you can't expect a bubble to occur every 10 months or so. If everyone could be sure that a bubble was coming, they'd invest a lot more money.

I highly doubt anything that has the name 'butterfly' in it's name is a bad thing when it comes to the Bitcoin world. We might want to find another name for that effect ;)

So, everyone has pretty much given up on any kind of rally creating a new ATH within the next couple weeks, right?

The cure for ebola, of course.

Yeah.

Bitcoin is a good way to sneak money out of country unnoticed.

Im not really sure about what you expect off the Argentina's defautl thing. People is poor and can barely go from month to month, they don't give a shit about Bitcoin, they just want the basic needs, that you need first covered to even consider giving a shit about Bitcoin.
The people that would benefit from Bitcoin is the small amount of people that have any relevant amount of money that they want to hide in Bitcoin before they steal all of their shit.

Do you mean a need like the ability to store value without having your purchasing power eroded by hyperinflation.  Because that's exactly why nobody can get ahead.  Fiat gives government the power to rob the populace to pay for their mistakes.  Bitcoin takes this power away.

Crossing 600 seems like a big event for some people here.

The rally is quick from around 580 to 605, something must have happen.
