Title: Bitcoin on Free Talk Live again
Post by: cdhowie on May 04, 2011, 05:51:49 AM
Yesterday (May 3rd), Bitcoin came up again as a topic of conversation on Free Talk Live (http://www.freetalklive.com).  You can download the show (http://traffic.libsyn.com/ftl/FTL2011-05-03.mp3) and give a listen if you want.  I called in around 1:20:00 to address Ian's reservations about Bitcoin addresses, which I hope were adequately explained.  Technical details were less important than the general idea, so some statements in my explanation were not technically correct, but I was trying to keep it short and understandable.  ;)

Ian, if you're reading this, thanks for the opportunity to explain Bitcoin just a bit more.  I enjoy talking about things I like, and I had fun on the air.  Maybe I'll call in again sometime to clarify more details about Bitcoin's operation if the subject arises.

Hey I just listened to the show and you did a good job explaining it imo.

Cool, thanks.  I've emailed the show for permission to post an edited version here as well as on my blog, so if it's all ok with them I will post a link to audio of just the Bitcoin-related content here.

You must be new to Free Talk Live. Ian has said many times that you can redistribute, remix or do whatever you want with the show content.

Newish, yeah.  I've been listening for a few months, but not consistently -- it's on at 8PM here, so I only really listen when I'm late leaving work.  :)

But yeah, Ian already sent me an email to this effect, so I will be posting edited audio later today.

great job cdhowie

edit: I listened to the whole show and have to say my favorite part was that girl who "gets lost in string theory for days" but can not comprehend the basic concept of private/public key cryptography

Wow ... umm ... I downloaded the MP3 in the OP to listen to some Bitcoin stuff. Then some poor woman called in to talk about the Osama news, and the hosts just ... ripped her apart. They were rude and outright vicious. They barely listened to her, cut her off all the time, and even started yelling. It got so bad that at the end they started coming up with hypothetical situations where they were going to kill her or steal all her money!?!   :o They were obviously in jest, of course, but that seems like an inappropriate thing to say to someone who calls into your show.

Is this just Fox News with an opposite political compass?

Remind me to never listen to that show again.

If you threw a party when you found out that the U.S. executed Osama bin Laden, then you should never listen to that show again.

If you're glad the U.S. is getting socialist health care, then you should never listen to that show again.

No, that would be Ed Schultz.

Thank you CDHowie!
I heard the show as well.
You did a great job!

Would you or someone else (Gavin?) on this forum be willing to do an interview with Mark Edge? (Co-Host of Free Talk Live)
He often does interviews that they attach to the end of the podcast.
I think each podcast is downloaded about 10,000 times on average,  so it would be a good way to reach at least that many people.

I'm not sure,  but I would guess that Mark would be interested in this as well.

Any thoughts?
