Title: Why do the bonds between humans and dogs/cats seem so much stronger?

i don't like my dog licking me, but i had to get out of the bath to turn the music up and he was licking my legs and it annoyed me,

Because dogs are very loyal to humans.

Humans domesticated wolves that became dogs... and dogs have learned to rely on humans and use us as much as we use them.  Some cats run in pride while other are solo predators, so cats may seem more aloof.
