So the question is simple will Dogecoin come to a stage like BTC has does? 600$ mark? Or even 100$  mark? What is the main difference in these coins?

I don't think this is ever gonna happen. BTC has only 15 million coins while Doge has unlimited supply of coins with over 80 billion coins already in rotation.

The reason is the supply side of it there are far to many Dogecoins to see a price similar to Bitcoin
However the viability of a coin like Dogecoin in the future is a question I initially wrote it off but it exploded and is still a fairly large coin in usage and marketcap and got some people into cryto, so it may still exist in one form or another.

I see what you are saying, but it does continue to have a strong community behind Doge.
Also, from what i've read, they have some parties already figuring out ways to put them in the right communities to make it valuable for people.

The differences between the two is total supply and demand. The price of a coin (or anything for that matter) largely depends on these two things. The more demand there is, the higher the price. The more supply there is, the lower the price. This is why there are some coins out there like 42coin which nobody really wants, but because the total supply is so small (i.e. there are currently only 12 of them on the market and there will never be more than 42 coins ever mined - hence the name), each 42coin sells for a whopping $2,000.

Now, as you might already know, Bitcoin is a much more established cryptocurrency than Dogecoin so naturally there is greater demand for it. Hence, even if Bitcoin and Dogecoin both had the exact same number of coins, Bitcoin would be priced higher than Dogecoin. But more importantly, Bitcoin is much more scarce compared to Dogecoin. Bitcoin has about 13 million coins at the moment and will never have more than 21 million coins. Dogecoin does not work in the same manner. There are many, many more dogecoins, and new dogecoins will always be produced since there is no cap. For example, right now there are almost 90 billion dogecoins:


In order for 1 dogecoin to be worth $1 today, Dogecoin would have a market cap of $90 billion. In order for 1 dogecoin to reach $100, Dogecoin would need to have a market cap of $9 trillion. So you can see why this would be infeasible.

This can probably be moved to the alt coin section. IMO dogecoin won't ever come close to BTC prices. I don't think the devs even intend on that.  I guess anything is possible, but very very improbable

Rather than follow LTC's lead Doge is slowly following Coinye's lead - the community support cannot overcome the inertia of miners dumping the coin for minimal profits.  Any rise in price is met with a few miners throwing ASICs at it for a couple hours and dumping.

the difference is volume, there are much more doge coins. That means that if there are x100 more you need to multiply the price with the same amount. If u do that it comes a bit closer already. But no, the price wont go much higher simply because the mass will never use this ridiculous coin.

That's a flawed logic. Due to the huge differences in supply, DOGE doesn't need to reach $600 mark. If 1 DOGE is $0.087 it would exceed the market cap of BTC ($7.7 billion).

No, I don't see that dogecoin will become like bitcoin any time soon if at all. There are limited amounts of bitcoins whereas with dogecoin there is an unlimited supply of those leaving it easy to get hold of and meaning it will not have as high price as bitcoin. You never know what may happen in the future but as it stands this is not possible right now.

Coinye was destroyed by a lawsuit. It seems more likely that Dogecoin is just suffering from a downtrend that's affecting all of the older more established altcoins (of which DOGE was probably the last). Both Peercoin and Litecoin have been experiencing the same decline for most of the year too as attention has shifted to the newer altcoins (of which NXT was probably the first and includes coins like DRK, XMR, etc.) which have popped up in recent months.


Assuming BTC price of $1,000 for simplicity, if each DOGE was worth $1,000 then Dogecoin at its current state would need to have a market cap of $90 trillion. So yes, it would be very, very improbable.

Because of unlimited supply, dogecoin will ultimately become an inflationary currency. So no chance of it being bitcoin ever.

But if the price of BTC skyrocket it is pushing the prices of all the other coins for certain time. When the 1000 bubble happened all the coins where to the moon too. If the support of DOGE continues it has a bright future.

It's a pity the dev's will not reconsider the extremely high interest rate they have given DogeCoin. The original idea was it should have a hard cap.

Yes, read one page back. However, can't wait so see what is going to happen in the crypto/alt world after 6months. Would be amazing if coins like doge, ripple and others shits be removed from market. BTC, DRK, NXT, XMR, XC will arrive

The main difference is that DOGE is already dying and BTC will stay as Number 1 on coinmarketcap because of the popularity and its possibilities to affect the real markets worldwide.

Dogecoin needs to close its open coin cap to even think to survive. 80 Billion coins is insane. even the miners are giving up on it. Too bad too because it has a great active community.

A reformatting of the coin might eventually occur but the question is how they would divide its coinage

PROTIP: Dogecoin is dead now that they've gone to merged mining. You think the price is bad now? It's going to get a lot worse.

At least Namecoin provides a unique service. Dogecoin has nothing.

Merged mining will keep the blockchain moving, but they screwed up Doge by making it inflationary. Not so much that it's inflationary, but how inflationary it is. It's way too much.

Inflation isn't a bad model for cryptocurrency, in fact it makes a lot of sense. All the coins that get lost over time won't cause deflation and limited supply issues.

There are way too many Dogecoins in circulation, for Doge to have a value per coin of even $1 would mean the market cap would be 178 billion USD, over 23 times that of Bitcoin's current Market cap. As the currency continues hyperinflation, the value of each coin will decrease even more, meaning the chance of it even coming close to a mere fraction of Bitcoin's value is decreasing even further by the day.

Simply put, the downward pressure of inflation is way higher than the upward pressure of buyers. The coin will continue to decrease in value. It's not a matter of opinion. It's a matter of mathematics.

Dogecoin was adopted, but as a joke. It was never serious, then it tried to get serious but was stuck in a joke.

Dogecoin is probably finished, unless something very clever happens. As far as i know, all the main holders dumped from 200 down to 100, with the rest of the "community" dumping thereafter.

I can't see where Doge goes next because it's not funny and it offers no advantages that scryptcoins like Litecoin don't offer.

Where is all the merge mining news? If its true, then its the end of Doge. It simply cannot sustain so many miners who will sell it anyway as they are basically getting it for free.
