Title: Need a Permenant Node?
Post by: tripppn on August 03, 2014, 11:52:50 PM
I rented a VPS and have room to add a few more seed nodes for other coins that need one.  Asking $4/mo with a min of 3 months paid in btc upfront.

The current server with available space is based in Amsterdam.

PM me if you are interested.

My pleasure.  I've had enough interest in my little project i rented a second VPS so I have room for more if there's anyone else looking to get a seednode going for their coin or just want to support the coin they invested in with a permanent node.

Any chance you have a server or could get one in Asia?

Asia isn't an option.  US east/west UK, singapore and amsterdam  but once this one fills up ill open another one in one of those places

I have room for 3 more nodes on new server I think. You don't have to be a dev for this, just a supporter who wants to help maintain the network of your favorite coin.

I could get a server anywhere.  I didn't realize people were actually paying for this though.  Boggle.

Make sure the VPS has 1 GB of RAM at least. At first bitcoind will run but then it will crash after a few days if you use any less RAM than this.

I'm hosting nodes for altcoins unless someone really wants a btc node but I think btc has plenty of them   ;)

All the nodes I'm hosting so far are running great and very stable

It's basically a wallet that's always open and on a static IP so other people can connect to it to sync and possibly prevent forks.

It's for people who are coin devs or people who just want to support their favorite coin.

You can grab a 512mb droplet at Digital Ocean, and run a couple of different daemons for 5 dollars a month.

Either begin with a 2 gb when you compile and then stop the daemons and downsize to 512. Or simply compile on desktop and use sftp to upload the daemon(s).

Also, if you have AWS free, you can still run a wallet (not  daemon) on a Windows server, just leave it open and eventually it should join the network (make sure you open the ports on set up).

But if people are paying $4 a node, and not expecting years of blockchain, I'll set one up for you.

That's pretty much what I'm doing.  And compared to what some people charge to host a node $4 is cheap.  I'm not looking to get rich, just help pay for a couple of my own personal nodes I run.

No, it's a fair service. It took me a year to find out how to get a daemon onto a server.

The charge is reasonable.

*Edit ... plus it's actually time consuming getting it set up
